APologies for the spelling first off.

Has anyone got difficulties using the barret since the new patch? When playing US I totally give up with this now and use basic unlocked gun. This isn't just a little difference in hitting ability ... it appears totally screwed!

I think you might be finding out what other experienced snipers do: that in-game, the M24 is actually a better sniper rifle than the Barrett. It's more accurate, of that I'm almost certain. They definitely do the same amount of damage when they hit.

IMO, the only reason to use the Barrett is if you're camped somewhere where you have a consistent clear shot at helo pilots and need to shoot through the cockpit glass. Otherwise, use the M24.

Seems fine to me ... and i have alot of hours with it.....  if anything it feels alittle sharper? Have they increased its velocity? feels like im having to lead less atm...
Or maybe people just keep running into my scope?
I take the M95 over the m24 just for the oportunistic kills on vehicles / smoking helos and jeeps etc ( i have my expert sniper and about 99% of it is with the m95)

There seem to me to be places which bug an enemys hitbox's so i generally dont try HS if i feel its not likely to hit (such as an enemy lying on an extream slope or manning the fixed MG positions unless they are firing in a steady stream), i take a body shot and finish with the pistol.

Has your sensitivity changed in controlls? Or are you using different Video settings as when i patched mine got reset to default .. .check these are consistant and try again!

Also i find that somedays are better than others.... no idea why but one day i will be picking off full sprint deflection shots at like 90% and others i go to about 20%

barrett does more dmg than m24 ..it seems to get 1 shot kills on a good torso shot a decent amount of times where the m24 never does, only the head shot is one shot kill... i think the barret is a better rifle all around, only drawback being its small clip i guess

The only real diffrence between the M24 and the M95 is the M95 has the ability to penetrate vehicle cockpit's/windshields and it can penetrate body armor and still deliver the max damage.  the M24 can go through body armor, but the body armor will absorb some of the damage.

If someone is sprinting and you hit them in the body with the M95 you will get a one-shot-kill, this seems to work with the M24 as well provided the target is not wearing body armor.

I seem to be more accurate with the M95 this time around, so whatever they did I am glad. Regarding the damage from the m24/m95. The barrett really does more damage, you can prove this by shooting the explosive barrels/fuel tanks. Takes two shots with m24 to destroy them, but only one from m95. However, when shooting armored infantry, the armor takes 100 of that damage (even the armorless people seem to have this -100 factor) and the rest of the damage (95) is why they are left with 2 bars of health. (Unless it's a headshot).

I'd like to make a point about the accuracy of these sniper rifles real quick though, which I discovered by using my Razer mouse in the lowest setting possible. At this setting, I could literally move the mouse the smallest amount possible on screen, which makes for deadly accuracy and simple aiming. I'm sure you all noticed the difference in widths of the crosshair lines in these two sniper rifles. At longer distances, the M24's lines pretty much covers the width of one whole unit of movement possible (if that makes sense). The M95 covers more, however, the hit area is probably still the same as the M24.

So what does this mean?? Basically, moving that tiny amount to the left or to the right with the M24 is the difference between a hit and a miss. This is even more complicated on the M95 since the crosshairs cover a wider range, but the point of aim is still as thin as the M24. So you could effectively have your target within the cross hairs of the M95 and still miss your shot becuase of these minute differences.

My suggestion is to use M24 as much as possible when hunting down infantry. Practice with the M95 to figure out where exactly your crosshairs need to be in order to score that hit, but I hope this helps some of you understand why you can be aiming dead on with the M95 and still miss that shot.

I don't see why you would need a 25mm anti-material rifle as a sniper rifle. Make that an unlock and all you will have is two teams of snipers.

hmm nice the xm109 with 25mm shells.
very good for shooting up apc and other light  armour vehicles.

The .50 cal sniper rifle was designed to take out stationary targets like planes and radar on a airfield, only later was it used as regular sniper weapon.

...so that's why a body shot with an M24 takes out less than half your HP, and the M95 takes out all but 2 bars?  Sorry, stats aren't accurate.

I play with the m95 because...

I didn't play with the M24 for long, and so I've been playing with M95 since I had 1000 points.  Now, I tried the M24, but it seems like it gains it's bullet drop at about 80 meters.  The M95 doesn't seem to have it for at least 125 meters or more.

And to the people said they get 1-shot kills with the M95 by hitting someone in the chest:  SHUT THE HELL UP!  THE PERSON HAS BEEN DAMAGED, AS YOU CAN'T GET A 1-SHOT FULL ON A FULL HP GUY IF YOU HIT THEM IN THE CHEST!  You aren't a miracle worker, he'd been shot before.

Im a fulltime snipe meself, the 24, hands down..

but to answer the post topic, the 95 does seem 'crisper'. I only use it on MEC and rarely.

not sure if its correct. but in the UBAR it even says the m24 accuracy is "Very High" while the m95 is only "high" accuracy.

funny, I couldn't hit shit before as a sniper - why i haven't used that kit much. since the patch and sf, however, i'm doing much better. had the basic sniper spec badge within like, 30mins of playing sf... not bragging, just saying that the accuracy and damage SEEM to be different, as i can do much better with it now.

EDIT: although, having said that, maybe its just that i've gotten better overall, as you do when you play more and more, and its just easier now coming back to the sniper kit with more experience.

in bfhq it lists m24 as high dmg very high accuracy and berrett as very high dmg high accuracy..

somehow i doubt ea put that there not being true *gasp* i think perhaps bf2s is wrong

..i swear i recall a dmg list saying that the highest dmg is berrett like 380 dmg but the dao being like 80 x 6 projectiles + point blank being the absolute highest dmg possible with a weapon ...
