Thats over 130000 death of civilians in American in the time since 9-11 and our Iraq invasion.

I demand that our government do something immediatly about this horrible situation and further that everyone quit bitching about the 3000 Americans killed in a major theatre of war in that same time frame.

Further, 1/4 of a million people are killed each and every year IN AMERICA by DOCTORS misdiagnosing or otherwise blundering their cases. That's more people than the number of Kurds Saddam gassed and we called that practically a genocide.

if we are going to fight, then why don't we? This grotesqe execution of Saddam was yet another fumbling in the way we have conducted ourselves, and it was an embarrassment, almost as bad as Abu Ghraib imo.

I know it's too much to ask, but can we please take the gloves off, or get the fuck out and accept defeat.

This doing nothing is getting on my nerves.

Given how many accidental deaths there are every year in America couldn't we afford a few thousand more per year to bring peace and freedom to the world?

I can wholeheartedly agree with that. From personal experience I know it is not fun at all to lose someone close to you to something that was not their fault or natural causes (it's not fun to lose anyone, but you know what I mean).

I really dont think it hurt us that bad. We asked for a cool off period due to Eid, but Malaki said no. They did it despite our recorded wishes to hold it. Malaki and Sadr will eat this one. But then again, neither one are very well liked in teh current administration!

As I have said I disagree with the timing. It should not have happened on the eve of a Muslim Holiday. I also have to question the intentions of the Iraqi government with the comments like "We were giving the Shia a holiday gift". You have to wonder if they are truley trying to unite. But I don't think we can apply our form of justice on theirs also. The manner by which it was carried out was not exactly professional neither. Still it is hard for me to have sympathy who raised his sons to execute via wood chippers. /torn

If I was Sunni and Iraqi, I'd probably want blood in general. That seems to be the implication with so many extremists in the area.

People suggest that Saddam's execution makes him a martyr and that violence will increase in Iraq as a result. In my honest opinion, I think we're past that now. It really doesn't get much worse at this point. These people are determined to kill each other.

Either we get the fuck out, or just lay the whole damn country to waste.

I favor the first option myself.

Right now, the war is widdening and as far as I can tell we are letting it happen. Saudi Arabia is funneling money to Sunni fighters, Iran to Shiites. How long before open warfare erupts between the Muslim states instead of the thinly veiled proxy war they are fighting now?

We didn't seem to mind when Iran and Iraq went at it; saved us bullets and boys.

This is one of those moments in history where you just have to trust the guy in charge that he sees the bigger picture.
You also have to realize that the president does not make war policy, for the most part. The Joint Chiefs recommend action based upon multi-branch intel, etc..

to be honest, i found the most iraqi sunnis (the ones that werent trying to put me in a body bag) to be more affable than most of the shiites that ive met. shiites in my experience have the monopoly on fundamentalism. sunnis in iraq seem to be more concerned with pan arabism and thats where the problems lies. sunnis believe shiites want to open the border to iran. persians arent arabs.

You know me well enough to know that I don't generally trust the government or our leaders, but I'm completely fine with Saudi Arabia and Iran going at it in Iraq. Fuck 'em. Let them sort this out, and if things get bad enough, well.... That's what we have our large arsenal for.

If war spreads too far in the region, just blow the hell out of the offending regions.
