We can drastically rethink our energy usage (which I don't like the sound of), or we can come up with a better idea. Some scientist suggested an orbital sun shield thingy that sounded relatively plausible but cost a lot (but then it is an expensive sort of problem), there was a post about it a few days ago, maybe something like that (hopefully better than that) could work.

There are plenty of alternative ways of getting energy that don´t harm mother nature too much, sadly it´s not in major companies interests.

He wins, even though Co2 has nothing to do with the supposed global warming, I think its all bull shit. But heres a graph.

Screw Polar bears.  What do they do?  They try and eat you if your snow mobile breaks down in the middle of nowhere?  They eat a few seal that treehuggers have washed oil off of?  You can't even eat the damned things without serious adverse health effects.. Global Warming might be happening, but man isn't the cause of it.  Anybody ever stop and think that species go extinct for  reason and by "mucking" with mother nature by trying to save these things is detrimental?  Imagine if man were around and saved raptors... Hell, I'd never go outside.  Aw look at the cute, poor, endangered polar bears...  Aw.. He's chewing on that guys leg.  forget that.  I'm gonna buy a hunting permit and go bag one while I still can.

Get one of those umbrellas you get in strawberry daquiris and make it 5000 times the size of that. Stick it in the north pole.

Problem solved.

One thing you rarely hear about is that power plants are the largest producers of air pollution in the world.  They contribute a huge percentage of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Of course, in America, power companies have potent government-supported monopolies in the areas they supply, so most politicians don't have the balls to address the negligent pollution they create.  They're more concerned with getting necessary campaign funds and getting re-elected.

One of the most straightforward ways to combat global warming is to modify the smokestacks on power plants to filter most of the greenhouse gases out of their emissions.  If legislation was set forth to force companies to do that, we'd see a dramatic drop in greenhouse gas accumulation, and by extension, a slowing of the global warming trend.

Of course, that's not going to happen....

DBBrinson1 all animals and plants does a job for mother nature that are vital...how small it might be, all of them are neccesary for other species and plants to live....it doest´t matter what the polarbears do for your satisfaction..but there are others depending on them, eventually we will only have cattle and small trees left on this earth if we continue walking down this path. I don´t now if extinction can be caused by anything else then man, all other species hunt naturally, they always leave enough for the next generation to florish.

Sure weatherchanges are natural...but mans effect makes it appear even faster and that is un-natural.

What is depending on polar bears?  Maybe mother nature wants them gone and that's why they are dying off.

Cattle and small trees left?  That is one heck of a slippery slope.  Taking the leap from the pending extinction of polar bears to all other wildlife else dying except cows and small trees?  Just so you know, trees are a renewable resource.  For example.  We grow trees to make paper.  We cut down trees, we plant more in their place.  By recycling paper, we eliminate the need for these paper tree forests, so they get developed into something else.  What do they do with all of the chemicals they use to bleach the paper with?  Can't dump it into the river.  Recycling is a sham (except aluminum).

Animals and plants go extinct all of the time.  Watch the discovery channel.  It has happened before man existed and will continue to happen after we are gone.  If a species can't adapt -they die off.  That simple.

Soo tell me what species that has gone extinct because other reasons then man? And don´t say the dinosaurs. I say we have lots of resposibility for extinction.

Also you talked about global warming, all of theese things has to doo with global warming and removing natural habitats for species. You are right about trees beeing re-newable...but howcome many of the worlds forrests are vanishing then,  we are making things happen way too fast and we make things happen that aren´t natural. Polarbears have tasks to fullfill, it might be to keep the penguins and seals on a natural level, who knows for sure, nature is complex. There would be no flowers if there wasn´t bees and soo on.... also it´s kinda hard for animals to defend themselves againts guns and melting ice wouldn´t you say? I say that humans have a big responsibility for their own actions.

Except that the "renewable" forests require massive fertilizer boosts (which usually comes from natural gas) and heavy machinery to maintain (which runs on oil), and the paper still needs to be bleached before it can be sold.

Farming forest is a bit like farming livestock, you need to pump a hell of a lot of resource into it to keep getting a return.  The soil would become infertile and barren otherwise.
