Try to find an upgrade path that lets you use most of the components you have. Processor speed doesn't help BF2 much at all if you have a good video card. It wouldn't be an ideal upgrade path but you can find a motherboard with a socket 478 (your Pentium 4) and a PCI X16 slot. That, along with a case, would let you swap everything over and just get a better video card. MSI 945GT Speedster-A4R Socket 478 Intel 945GT Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail $130 on Newegg. Even an entry level 7300GT would be better than the video card you have. They can be found for 60 bucks. Then you may want to upgrade your processor after all that. Even those are moderately priced. There are 3 Ghz P4's for 80 bucks. gradually upgrading will give you goals to look forward to.
My dad thinks it would make more sense to buy a new computer than upgrade the mobo so he won't let me get a new mobo.

Well I posted that last thread before reading yours. If my suggestions just aren't options financially I understand. But I can tell you not to upgrade to a 9600XT for sure. You will not see much improvement at all if any. Just keep saving and get the best AGP card you can. At least an 7600 GT or x1600 pro or something.  Newegg has X1600 Pro's for $130 - $150. Your power supply may be able to handle it. I had a small shuttle case with a 250 power supply running an overclocked 3.0 GHZ P4, 2 gigs of Overclocked memory, 2 250GB hardrives and a 9800 XT at one time.

Just a question, at what resolution shall I do my 3Dmark06 bench?
I mean, I'm at 1280x1024 now, so should I change to 1024x768?

Edit: Jippie, I did the test and got an amazing score of 1587!

PS: Is it quite common to have only 0.2-0.3 fps in the CPU test?

It's best to run 3DMark at the default settings so it's a more even comparison between your results and other people's.

The problem is, that the settings I got shown as default were the above. And I hardly believe, that 1280x1024 really is a default resolution, since it doesn't fit a 4:3 screen. The problem now is, that I can't change those settings after a hardware check. Pretty bad.
(1280x1024 : 1024x768 = 1,6666666666~ would this mean my score was 66,7% higher with a resolution of 1024x768?)

Unfortunately, everyone here seems to be forgetting that he only has a 250 Watt Power Supply. I don't think that's gonna cut it if he upgrades his video card.

If I were you, I would look up your PC's model number on HP's website and see what form factor they say it is just to be sure, then upgrade to a better power supply, at least 400 watts. That should be able to handle a video card upgrade.

And no, do NOT upgrade to a 9600XT from a 9600 you will see very little if any difference in graphics or frames per second.

It's an ATX case.  If you think, from that picture, that it is non-proprietary, then maybe I will upgrade my PSU.  It would really be a pain if it didn't fit though.
