It's gonna be a mess.

All depends on the timescale you're talking about though.

Doing nothing is doing better than allowing the place to be fucked up worse than it ever had been in recent history. I'd say the death toll has outsripped Saddam now and at least under Saddam you could go to the shops to pick up a loaf and milk.

Maybe you guys should draft a resolution the UN calling for the immediate withdrawal of all US forces.  You know, do something instead of just complaining.

Give the Democrats some time. Bush and the Republicans created the mess, let's give the Democrats a chance to see if their influence can bring any positive impact to bear on the situation. We must reserve judgement until we see the proposed 'new direction'...

How about a vote by the Iraqi people. Very simple: Do you want foreign forces out? What do you think the results would be?

Media shifts focus from Iraq and we all forget about it
Exactly
Just like: _ Panama
              _ Iraq after 1991
              _ Ex-Yugoslavia

exactly, many of those things are going to happen over a long timescale, so there is no way to vote for just one.

Media shift will happen as soon as something shiny stimulates their pea sized brains, but in the real world I think Islamic Republic is the most likely scenario.

I chose other.  I'm hoping for nulear holocaust (I am only half-kidding).

I would argue that it isnt a civil war.  It is inter-clan strife that has been happening on and off for hundred and hundreds of years in multiple countries.  Most of it isnt about borders or power.  Most of them arent fighting for control of the government, or for an independent state.  They are just a bunch of pissed off people.

In this episode it seems that the Sunnis are fighting because they are angry that they have less power in a democratic-like state becaue they are a minority, and the Shias are pissed that they were brutally abused by the Sunnis under Saddams rule.  Those statements are, of course, sweeping generalizations, but fairly true.

They are all acting like a bunch of stupid little kids, and it is too bad that the U.S. didnt realize how petty, illogical, and plain stupid they were before we started this quest.

Attention shift's, it is always the case, no sooner after withdrawl will the press leave and alas we forget/just dont think about it anymore, as it will no longer be our 'concern'.  Certainly not mine, I have four friends serving in the British and American militaries, thankfully none have died, as soon as they get out, it wont be mentioned.  Thing is an embaresment to the supposedly most advanced miliraties in the world, but you know, there fighting with one hand tied behind there back so theres no shame init

Media shift, with eternal civil war (unknown to most Americans due to media shift).

-or-

Eternal civil war, followed by media shift due to boring eternal civil war.

wrong.  Saddam created this mess.  We used to be cool with him..  The he turned into a dick.. Therefore, since we put him there, we had to take him out.  I can't believe you support dictators... wait. I'm replying to Cam?  Nevermind.. I believe it.

i voted for a split state

lol even if the media stopped covering the war, i dont think everyone will forget. only the really dumb dumb people will, most will still know its happening. besides that wont happen, the media loves war, and as long as there is a war there will be coverage regardless

It's amazing how people can come up with bullshit about me supporting a particular person without me endorsing him in any way, shape or form. Simply amazing. That's even despite the fact that I've lambasted the US on several occasions for helping to create said monster in the first place.

Ya, the classic (forgive me) neo-con "You're with us or against us" bullshit.

Overused, outdated, and ohhh so full of shit

Also one of Hitlers favorite tactics.
