yeah, but then it says....

'The number of people in employment rose by 42,000 over the past three months'


i dont get it, how can there be rising unemployment and employment? imigration?

In Australia, anyone who works 1 hour per fortnight or is in an activity such as temporarily ill, Work for the Dole, voluntary work etc is not counted in the unemployment figures....since the creation of the Job Network, a collection of private agencies paid fees by the Federal govt, which replaced the Commonwealth Employment Service (CES), a Dept of the Federal govt run by the public service.

Feel free to explore the possible ramifications of this information.
