Have only done so twice. Its too risky so i just make as many passes as it takes to get repaired sufficiently.

on maps like dalian, if i'm PLA.... and even then, only if i'm down to 3-4 bars
if i am severly damaged i do and i know i have time.....
It all depends on what map, how many players I expect in the vicinity, what side, if baserape is allowed - all sorts of things.
Some airfields give you a good fill when you fly past the station at 300 (daqing pla), some only give a little bit no matter how slow you fly (dragon valley pla) and some can be full of retards that will block and TK you to get the plane to respawn if you do land (busy wake servers)
so I take it on a per-situation basis...but if I can get a half decent fill then its safer to go around a couple of times, perhaps do a quick milk round bombing the closest enemy base and return for a few circuits till im fixed.

In every jet except for the f35b I slow down over the repair box. In the f35b I hover over the carrier, then do a vertical takeoff.

i prefer on large maps, just to play as engi, set down miles away from conflict, and just wrench it better.

Depends on the Jet im flying... if its a J10 on wake island... hell no. If its a J10 on another server... then yes. With the harrier i tend to just hover about the carrier

2. The amount of schmucks busy teamkilling at your airfield or carrier.
Simply put. Those variables rely quite heavily on which kind of server you happen to be playing on. Whether it's a server populated with mature minded people that use their common sense often. Or. Whether it's a server populated by people who act like immature morons who don't want to see past their own smacktard selves.

im constantly amazed by ppl that dont understand the little windsock shed is what fixes the planes... best is when you see some guy parked in the hanger and hes typing ingame that his plane wont repair... classic
