Not quite a riddle to solve, but it's a good one to throw at your friends...

Three hunters are going to stay at a lodge overnight in the same room.
The manager charges the men $30 for the night.  The actual price of the room is $25/night.
The manager feels bad about overcharging the men, so he gives his son $5 to make it right with the hunters.
The son can't divide $5 between the 3 men, so he keeps $2 for himself, then gives each hunter $1 back.
So now the three hunters have paid $9 each for the room.
$9 x 3 hunters = $27.
$27 + $2 (kept by the son) = $29
What happened to the last dollar?
Its just a mathematical illusion. You don't multiply. it should go like this:
30$=2$(kept by the son) + 3$(money given back to the hunters) + 25$(room price)
yup i did the math and i always get the kid has two dollars and each of the hunters has one dollar, two plus three equals five, wow mathamagicians, although for some reason im expecting an alternate answer

Ok - two more and I REALLY need to focus on work.

Chances are someone may have seen these, so given our current speed of answering, if you can answer it in the next hour - PM me your response and I will karma you bitches. Feel free to post after that, but give it an hour of pondering time for others.

1. A father and his son are involved in a car accident, as a result of which the son is rushed to hospital for emergency surgery. The surgeon looks at him and says "I can't operate on him, he's my son". Explain.

2. A landlord is threatening to evict a father and his beautiful young daughter, unless she agrees to marry him. In a false gesture of sincerity, he offers her an opportunity for her and her father to remain in the house, without marrying him. He has a silk bag in which he says he has placed a white and a black stone from the footpath on which they're standing. If she picks the white stone from the bag, without looking, she wins; if she picks the black, she loses. However, the young girl saw him place two black stones in the bag. She can't expose him in front of the witnesses without angering him and making things worse. How does the clever girl win?

Edit: Helmet - just realised what your 2142 name is; GOLD.

Ok i got a few more but im out of karma. So...the winners get to feel all special inside.

These aren't really hard.

1. Which month of the year lasts the longest?

2. One day, while I was walking down the street, I met my uncle by chance. I had never met him before or
seen a photograph, but recognized him immediatly. How is this possible?

3.  A scientist claims to have invented a unique machine that allows him to dissappear for an hour and
reappear at the same spot one hour later. He hasn't tried it but is eager to do so. Why should you tell him
    not to?

4. Which plant name can be made from these letters without using any of them twice? T O W A R

5. Using all of these only once, form the name of the name of an animal.  a h e t d u l e

Fenris is Correct.

In the other, she takes out one stone and drops it. The only way to know which colour it was is to look in the bag, and since that is black the witnesses will believe the stone she took out is white.

Quite alot of these are variations on the correct version. Like the hunter one where infact its paying for a bill at the resturant and they are tipping. The black white stone one is the black white grape one where the grape is eaten and not dropped. They are still all good

1. Which month of the year lasts the longest?

Does this have anything to do with it takes 4 years to get to February 29? Or is it an actual straight-through question?

Here you go:

1.There are two lengths of rope.
Each one can burn in exactly one hour.
They are not necessarily of the same length or width as each other.
They also are not of uniform width (may be wider in middle than on the end), thus burning half of the rope is not necessarily 1/2 hour.

By burning the ropes, how do you measure exactly 45 minutes worth of time?

2. SOLVED
There are four man standing in front of a firing-squad. Two of them (nr.1 & 3) wear a black hat and two of them (nr.2 & 4) wear a white hat. They are all facing the same direction and between nr.3 and nr.4 stands a brick wall (see picture). So nr.1 can see nr.2 & 3, nr.2 sees nr.3, nr.3 sees only the wall and nr.4 doesn't see a thing. The men know that there are two white and two black hats.
The commander of the firing-squad is willing to let the men go if one of them can say what color hat he is wearing. The men are not allowed to talk. The only thing they may say is "I'm wearing a white/black hat". If one of the men knows which hat he is wearing he must tell it and all men will be free.
Which man knows 100% sure what color hat he's wearing?

3.Easy one: SOLVED
If you are in a dark room with a candle, a wood stove and a gas lamp. You only have one match, so what do you light first?

4.Would you rather a crocodile attack you or an alligator? SOLVED

5.Classic SOLVED
As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a man with seven wives.
Each wife had seven sacks,
Each sack had seven cats,
Each cat had seven kits.
Kits, cats, sacks and wives,
How many were going to St. Ives?

6.Who is your father's only son's brother's uncle's wife's daughter's brother's father's son? SOLVED - Paco got the right answer.
