They should have displays with the various religious symbols in proportion to population. So you get one two inch high menorah and twenty big massive fuckoff christmas trees.

You know, I was going to reply with something agreeably witty, but I just realized that the Brother Bear DVD menu loop playing in the other room has effectively wiped my mind for the night.

Disney is insidious that way.

I want to know WHY we can't just celebrate Christmas anymore?  Why does everyone else and their brother have to get all hacked off that their religious symbols aren't included during Christmas?  I don't go telling all other religions to add a cross to the decorations for their holidays, so leave the Christmas trees alone!  And pass the eggnog!

After consulting with lawyers, port staff believed that adding the menorah would have required adding symbols for other religions and cultures in the Northwest. The holidays are the busiest season at the airport, Betancourt said, and staff didn’t have time to play cultural anthropologists.
Best part of this is the Xmas tree is a symbol of the comercial side of christmas, and has NO religious affiliation actually. BUT the menora IS a symbol of religion. I would have kept them up, the Jewish guy would have lost on those grounds and by the time any court action was taken, christmas would be over.

theatening to sue over a christmas tree....only in america...

Where is common sense and understanding these days ? After all, it's not like the airport wanted to put down jews or their religion. A christmas tree has nothing to do with christianity. It is a symbol for the christmas season, a custom that has existed in europe since the early middle ages.

and why does the Rabbi care anyway ? It's just a tree in an airport lobby. Some people amaze me...
