Isn't that what the whole UN force in Lebanon is supposed to do? Keep Israel and Lebanon off of one another?

The article said something about Israel wanting Hezzbolah to fulfill a UN resolution. Odd that Israel is telling people to listen to the UN seeing how they always seem to ignore it.

Funny... because without the French, Tony Blair would be thinking how to secure GB's boarders with Mexico

France is trying to ease tensions by giving the Israelies one less reason to overfly Lebabnon with their spy planes.

I see no problem, and they probably have their own drones and satelite. Intel anyway.

Lol. The French are shit at stopping people coming up the tunnel. I think timed doors need to be added. So that the tunnel is sealed as much of the time as possible, ofcourse the train needs enough time to stop if the door won't open.

Not true, France has nukes and has threatened to use them on Muslim nations sinse 9-11.
The Mexicans still honor the French bravery at Camerone.
http://www.military.com/NewContent/0,13 … P1,00.html

France is trying to reconcille her beliefs in socialism with the reality of an aging population on the dole. They have accepted large numbers of muslims thinking that they would assimilate, and now they don't know what to do.

This comment will not go over well with the historically uninformed;
Don't underestimate the French military or her nations honor in combat.
ANY nation faced with the German blitz hold have folded holding the cards they had at the time.

I've made my share of French slander jokes and threads, but the reality is different. The reality is France is a player on the world stage.

for isreals whole existance they have been surrounded by enemies that attack them relentlessly.
guess what happens to that society after a long time of that.
they learn how to survive. and they learn how to wage war like a motherfucker.
now, i admire france for victories long forgotten by most. but i seriously look down on them for their more recent military actions.
to even compare the two is ridiculous. isreal would stomp them. no contest.

French bravery at Camerone.

*fail* it was France's FOREIGN LEGION that fought that, so they weren't all French.

UNIFIL Mandate wrote:

According to Security Council resolutions 425 (1978) and 426 (1978) of 19 March 1978, UNIFIL was established to:

Confirm the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon;
Restore international peace and security;
Assist the Government of Lebanon in ensuring the return of its effective authority in the area.
According to Security Council resolution 1701 (2006) of 11 August 2006, UNIFIL, in addition to carrying out its mandate under resolutions 425 and 426, shall:

Monitor the cessation of hostilities;
Accompany and support the Lebanese armed forces as they deploy throughout the South, including along the Blue Line, as Israel withdraws its armed forces from Lebanon;
Coordinate its activities referred to in the preceding paragraph (above) with the Government of Lebanon and the Government of Israel;
Extend its assistance to help ensure humanitarian access to civilian populations and the voluntary and safe return of displaced persons;
Assist the Lebanese armed forces in taking steps towards the establishment between the Blue Line and the Litani river of an free of any armed personnel, assets and weapons other than those of the Government of Lebanon and of UNIFIL deployed in this area;
Assist the Government of Lebanon, at its request, in securing its borders and other entry points to prevent the entry in Lebanon without its consent of arms or related materiel.
By this resolution, the Council also authorized UNIFIL to take all necessary action in areas of deployment of its forces and as it deems within its capabilities, to ensure that its area of operations is not utilized for hostile activities of any kind; to resist attempts by forceful means to prevent it from discharging its duties under the mandate of the Security Council; and to protect United Nations personnel, facilities, installations and equipment, ensure the security and freedom of movement of United Nations personnel, humanitarian workers and, without prejudice to the responsibility of the Government of Lebanon, to protect civilians under imminent threat of physical violence.
Please note coloured text above. The Jerusalem post is a racist trash paper. They'll spin anything any way to make the Israelis look hard done by. UNIFIL would be taking the action, yet they finger France on some personal vendetta. It's funny how the story appears not to have made the more respectable Israeli daily, Ha'aretz.

Good insight ATG.

Just because ATG doesn't see everything through a polarized Israel and the USA versus the world set of eyes doesn't make him any less a neo con gas guzzling imperialist. Calm down!!!

Seriously people, if even a sniff of information is posted on here about France, there is a rush to see who can stick it to them about WW2 first. They were one of the first nations o get hit with blitzkrieg and the full might of the 3rd Reich. They didn't have years to build up an army and navy with thousands of miles separating them from the threat. It was on their door step. Unless your country has been in that situation..................GIVE OVER FFS and stop being so god dam smug when you weren't even born and played no part in the events!!!!
