Ok, well, when playing BF2, the memory usage is like 1,14GB according to the task manager, it wasnt so high when i first installed the game...so wtf is going on? Should i reinstall the game?
.
my RAM is 1 GB btw...so i get some lag on some servers occasionally.
The cpu usage is fine.

Mine aint crap either... 3.2 cpu, 256mb geforce 6600, 1 gb ram....

What bugs me is that it wasnt that high earlier...

thats about the same as my old pc (it only had 1,5gb ram) but with that one i experienced lag aswell, it used to run fine on medium but afther the summer it got all laggy

so no i dont understand it, sorry

probably the patches, I played BF2 on Medium when it came out, all low now

Well, its nice to start fresh sometimes , reinstalled it, now patching to 1.41, was i supposed to do anything else inbetween ?

I reinstalled BF2 a few days a go. I tried 1.0 and was able to play all high at constant 40+ fps.
Then I patched to 1.41 and turned everything to low...

Well patches of 500MB+ is NOT normal for a game... I mean, I had other patches of 5MB, once 20MB, but 500... With the download limit in belgium it's not really funny

Just to compare: Diablo 2 v 1.11b patch is 10.5MB and that includes all previous fixes. And that's the 22nd patch of the game. (patches were mostly to add new items to the game or adjust monster HP and tweak the skills so there wouldn't be Ultra-heroes or ultra monsters.)

rename the bf2 file

so bf2 can become bf21 if you get my drift

that stop bf2 becoming a resource hugry dinosaur

it also stops bf2 using extra resources i.e special graphics drivers

yea, i just renamed the exe to "battlefield21.exe" and did that pb_sleep 500, this is great, maps load fast as hell Good stuff, i guess the exe thing worked, even though after i renamed it, and wanted to click "apply" it was unclickable

And, the memory usage is like 700mb now
