Radeon 9600 beats the shit out of the 5000 series. I have a 9600 and play it on medium. I also have 2 gigs of RAM though. If i'm correct, then you must also have a power supply that is too weak too power any higher end cards and that is probably why you are looking at cards that don't require a power supply connection.

i have the 7600 gs agp and i must say that it works perfect for the price,i could play the game on all high but it laggs a little, but i have a worse system(athlon 2500+) than yours. i'm sure you could play bf2 at medium without any problem at all.

Hello right i am now getting a BFG GeForce 7600 GS OC 512MB DDR2 HDTV/DVI (AGP)

Would i need a better power supply than the one i have (no idea what one it is, how do i find out)

Would i be able to play all medium with no lag with an AMD athlon 3200+ and 1.5 gig ram?

With that you should be fine. You'll be loving it after a 5500.

At home I run BF2 on a few machines, one has a 5900XT and it runs a bit rubbish, one has a 6600GT and it runs ok, one has a 7600GT and it runs nicely and one has an 8800GTS and it runs almost perfectly (reason it doesn't run perfectly is down to RAM, only 1GB - still being limited to medium on textures isn't the end of the world 16x AA looks nice).

Needless to say the difference will be stagering.

yup u wont be disappointed with the 7600 gs i have trust me he good enough to play on medium even on high with out AA.
edit: your PSU should be ok with this card,it doesn't take much power of it.
