How would you even know if they work or not because you wouldn't see them if they did!
And o yes they do work VERY well. Perhaps I am just a good sniper but have had 2 tanks stop look around and just move right past. Infantry also. I will post the videos later. I even had a tank machine gun the bush I was in! But he didn't see me so he didn't continue firing.

LOL, I don't think it's quite that high a percentage but yeah; it's like they've never seen silhouetting.

Ghillies do work surprisingly well in the right circumstances, even very close... like close enough to lunge and get a knife kill. Inside some bushes (crouched so your legs and rifle aren't sticking out like arrows... ->> Sniper here! <<-) you'll get guys running right past you with a bit of luck... you can even shoot them and they still can't spot you. Supposed to work too when proned in the back of the wrecked pickup trucks and other spots you don't expect.

A long time back someone mentioned in a thread on tips for either the knife badge or the pistol badge that you could often get away with running right into a group of enemy players and they'd see the suit but not register that you're one of the enemy; and it does work. Not as much as I'd like but hey, we can't always be facing noobs.

What's really surprising to me, and this may relate to my crappy graphics, is that at range the camo effect fails completely and all snipers, regardless of the army they're on, show as dark blobs against a hillside.

On Lowest Graphics, No Unit is goes unseen, If you play on Highest Graphics im sure they are harder to see.

Lowest Graphics is best.

The poll needed a "If you're in the right location" option.

If you're running down the road on Karkand, then no, the sniper suits don't help.  Or if you're on a building or crane....

BUT on maps like Songhua, the sniper suit is great.  Find a nice dark grassy spot, in a little foxhole, stay still, and you're pretty hard to see.  I've had enemies run right by me and not see me.

I guess alot of you had a good point, I wouldn't really know if I've missed snipers or not if I just didn't see them. I was just curious what everybody thought since I've been logging a good bit of sniper time going for the Vet badge. I'll just need to pay more attention to where I'm at. Thanks...

Ghillie works only if you crouch with the knife out inside a bush of the same color. The number of times people just run by without seeing me number in the dozens. Even when they get help from a commander.

The best incident was when a guy was looking for me and rushed through my bush and bumped me, but kept on running after that. One of my better knife kills

I've been fooled a few times while playing with some people on an unranked server. I walked within 3m of them and didn't see them at all.

Personally, I'd say if you're a Chinese sniper on Daqing Oilfields, you can pretty much go unseen if you know what you're doing, since most of the map looks the same shade as the Chinese ghillie suit.

Well lemme see, based on the random sample provided by the membership of BF2s I'd have to say, naaah.

That would be like someone stating that if someone is in TOP they're automatically an asshole too immature to appreciate the significance of your own mission statement. But as you and I both know that's only true of a few of you

I killed 1 with my pistol , but the other started jumping around and then i became the moving bush. i hadnt quite realised how effective they were till then

if they r far away, laying in a bush, with the suit on, you probably wont see them until they take a shot and you see that by which time you may already be dead
Drunk_Musketeer
To be honest I don't care anyway..
+57|6762|Great Wall
I think Songhua Stalemate is the only map where sniper 'suit' works well.. In other maps I wouln't count on that I'm unseen.. A bush on the roof or crane is not an usual thing you know..  therefore easier to spot for anyone else

BF2s isn't a random sample it represents a sample of gamers dedicated enough to fequent a forum about it....The more interested/informed about the game they are the more likely they are to succeed so....

BF2s on averages is likely to be better then some one who doesn't browse forums about the topic (of corse there are those on OTHER BF2 sites)

Just saying

It's pretty lame in this game. In joint operations, it literaly blended into the terrain. When i first saw the suit in bf2 i was like, is this a joke? this game came out like 2 years later then JO and they cant even make a sniper suit blend with the terrain mesh?

If your on high graphic setting with a good card those ghillies work pretty good with blending in with vegatation. On low graphics settings you can spot them better... i tried a few games with all settings for video on high and dynamic shadows etc: and got surprised a few times by not spotting snipers nearby

How ironic, the more you put into a killer graphic card the easier it is for people with cheaper cards to see you and for you to not see them

the sniper suit comes really handy on daqing oilfields when you camp the enemy main base with an M95, in urban areas its often useless and its even more useless in clan matches.
yes I have been fooled from times to times.

Maybe an idea for BF3 or something, give all kits the option to choose their own camo's/ghillies.

Simple, no. It just lets other sniper to identify your kit.

Its just too darn dark for most maps, walls, and floors/ground is almost white so you glow like Rudolf's nose at Xmas eve, for miles away... only real cover (except some unique places in some maps AND Songhua Stalemate what Drunk_Musketeer said) what you can use camouflage is those "3D bushes" if you go middle of them and sniper from there...

QFT. I was in the scout heli earlier, even with the UAV on it I couldnt see the fker in amongst the trees on Harvest.
I had to spray bullets until I regged a hit to find him.
