Ok, All planes that are in production after the year 2000 does not count:

F22
Eurofighter.

Discuss!

Me think it's F15, it's so 1337 it has not been shot down once in Combat.

Btw, Jets only, no propeller planes.

The Harrier..

Just because it was innovative at the time and it actually experienced combat and proved itself.

Notice the jet part

Mustang pwned as a propeller though.

to Towelly: Harrier indeed is worthy, but sadly it doesn't have afterburners. Harrier wins by innovation by my books imo.

Me-262 Sturmvogel ftw!

First jet plane that actually worked as a fighter / attacker instead of being a buggy piece of junk.

Reliable and versatile, plus it always came through when needed.

Well it was the first, but didn't make it in mass production. So it wasn't that good.

Air to ground A-10 warthog Air to Air: Eurofighter not tested in real combat but its stats are better then the F15's Naval: F18 There have been reports of F15 shootdowns check somewhere in the American Air Force list of Aircraft as well as plenty being heavily damaged including one which basically lost its wing.

Yea, but it had no machineguns, so it needed to be mounted if you were expecting close dogfights.

Eurofighter cannot be included if you read original post.

CF-105 Avro Arrow

Built in 1958 but comparable to most modern day aircraft.

In March 2005, USAF Chief of Staff General John P. Jumper, then the only person to have flown both the Typhoon and the Raptor, talked about these two aircraft. He said that "the Eurofighter is both agile and sophisticated, but is still difficult to compare to the F-22 Raptor". "They are different kinds of airplanes to start with," the general said. "It's like asking us to compare a NASCAR car with a Formula 1 car. They are both exciting in different ways, but they are designed for different levels of performance."

ooohhhh dude i would do just anything, to get to fly those jets, they look so cool.
but for sure those 2 are the best at this time
