No matter what anyone says, GG.  The scouts, while plagued with some unfortunate issues, is still an honorable organization.
I moved less than a month from my initiation to Eagle, and just gave it up and went into NJROTC, then OCS rather than more or less redo a year of scouts in my new state.. I always regretted not getting the eagle as well.

So yeah, Good Job, scouts, past and present.  The only opinion that matters, is your own.

I was a Cub Scout, then I quit because all we did was make wire hanger-mobiles.

Try reading some documents like the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution.....

Might set you straight...
"I do not find in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature.....Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burned, tortured, fined and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this coercion? To make half the world fools and half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the world" --Thomas Jefferson; in his Notes on Virginia, author of the Declaration of Independence

The Declaration of Independence:

The word 'God' is mentioned once in the entire document and that is within the phrase 'Nature's God'.

The word 'Creator' is also mentioned once with the same irreverence for the concept of the Christian God the Father, God the Son, Holy Spirit or any other machination.

Constitution:

1st amendment:  Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

.....and that's it.  Please, feel free to point me to the Federal document that connects the United States Goverment with Christianity or specifically any religion.

thanks for setting me straight.

Come on?  Didn't you guys watch that thing on the Discovery Channel about what the Mayflower people were actually like??  They were like, "Hey!  Give us your corn!" and then something about staying in some sort of huge TP and everyone in the tribe sleeping in the same bed...  or something.  Meh, I was on the internets when I watched it.  Either way, everything on TV and in history books is the absolute truth.

I'm an Eagle.

Hopefully, I'll be able to work as a ranger at philmont next year.  It is one of the summer programs at the academy.

it's something like 2% of all boy scouts become an Eagle. why its that low I don't know, because it was fairly easy for me. (maybe its the fact that the tasks required seem daunting????)

It's about 10% of all Brit Scouts gain the Duke of Edinburgh award, and about 5% of all Scouts gain their Queen's Scout's, equivalent of Eagle Scouts. It's daunting, and it takes TIME.....

I posted on this topic about a year ago, and since then, I gained my Queen's Scouts ROCK ON!
