My family is all atheist (that is my mom and dad and my sister, my grandparents are religious, old skool eh?) and we still hold Christmas just as any other family on Iceland. (Note: Nobody ever goes to church on Iceland, those who do are considered religious fanatics :p)

As OGZ-badge said, our society will have to wake up, or we will no longer exist. We welcome immigrants but the problem is, they break our traditions. They have to understand that when we celebrate Christmas, we are not trying to convert them, as someone said earlier. Just dont participate to the celebrations, if you dont agree with them.
I agree with people who says that a shcool should be an atheistic establishment, but this "rule" is there since people from other religions have come here. It's because of their demands if religion isnt part of education anymore as well as commercials, songs, etc.
I think that once, we will have to stand up against their needs and maybe tell them about ours.

Separation of church and state is not in the Constitution, though too many people in the US function as if it is.Agent_Dung_Bomb wrote:

I'm an AMERICAN, if you live in my Country, speak English, because if i lived in a different country they would want me to speak their language. If you want the National Anthem to be in spanish move to a spanish country. Years ago, seeing that I'm 32, it was Merry CHRISTmas, no ifs, ands or buts about it, all these pollitically correct PUSSIES need a good ass whipping. But that is just my 2 cents.
We cannot cater to everyones Freedom to do certain things. What if I want freedom of walking around naked and it not being illegal? There is NO way to cater to what everyone wants. Basically, this is the way it is, you don't like it? Get The Fuck Out!
you are confusing allowing students to observe their religious rites with the teacher preaching a sermon. if a group wishes to meet after school in the library for a prayer meeting there is nothing wrong with that, if a member of the staff participates while "on the clock" i could see how there might be an issue. but a teacher allowing the students to produce a play as they normally might, is perfectly acceptable, even if the play is about jesus, muhammed, and buddha walking into a bar (damn that's a good idea! i gots to gets to writing). in fact, it's nigh impossible to find a literary piece of historical importance that doesn't involve some type of religious overtones.Agent_Dung_Bomb wrote:

public lands are also for public use, the right of the people to peacably assemble shall not be infringed, if you want to have a muslim prayer service on the courthouse lawn, assuming you go through the proper channels for having a "demonstration", it is perfectly legal to do so. religion is part of the community, the lands are for community use.

Seal how would you like it if we learned about Hinduism in school(my religion) Would u be like yea sure or fuck no. I for one am sick of this bullshit, we learn so much about christianity at school and im sick of it
go ahead, it would be irresponsible of the educational system not to teach about hindu and it's effect on history
I pretty much agree.hate&discontent wrote:

Can't we just act like a free country, so that if some kid wants to pray to whoever, that's ok? I don't give a shit if somebody's offended by it. Pray to Christ, Allah, or whoever you want to. Sing Christmas songs and enjoy it. Or.. you can sing about Hanukkah or whatever. It doesn't matter. It's just that people need to learn how to mind their own business and enjoy each other's company rather than throwing some fit everytime something remotely offends them.
What's so wrong with public displays of religion? Hell, I'm an atheist, and I'm surrounded by religion every day. Does it bother me? No. The only time religion is a pain in the ass is when it's used to justify certain laws, but other than that, I don't care if they sing Christmas songs.
If I was a kid in high school, it's not gonna bother me to hear Jingle Bells or whatever. Is this idea of going with the flow that intolerable for these uptight mofos? If a Sikh kid gets to bring a knife to school, then surely some Christian kid can sing "O come, all ye faithful."
By the way, that Sikh knife thing is fucked up. I think we should restrict any religious practices that involve weapons. I don't care if your religion says its required. I guess that means you just can't get on the plane then.

atheist kid at our school yes...geeky fag kid i don't make fun of him...my girlfriend was going on a trip to Bahamas until the 1st of January and i said by and merry Christmas, and some other shit you don't need to know and this atheist geek comes up and explodes in me and my gfs face about how he shouldn't have to hear us, and how it offends us and how we should pretty much all be atheist, I laughed and went to class. same kid had a random outbreak cuz the school in the morning was playing Christmas music <<not my fav but who the fuck cares>
and he comes in runs down to the office and turns off the radio, and screams in the principles face, and then he settles down and has a conversation over it and our dumb bitch principle decides to not play it anymore so,i don't care about not playing the music or not its just the principle
we got some fucked up people that always have to get their ways...life isn't a box of chocolates like Mr gump says

Speaking of Gump, that kid sounds retarded. I'm ashamed that he would give atheism such a bad name. I know every religion has its idiots, but he's proof that secular people have them as well. What a dipshit...Tushers wrote:

I'm atheist myself, and I just wanted to say that most of my secular friends are never and were never like that. Sorry he was such a dick to you guys.

In my seventh grade class we had to learn about all of the major religions of the world. Hindu was one of them, so was Buddism, Islam, Christianity, and Jewish. You did not hear one complaint from anyone, so your point is invalid. Some school systems teach about other religions, just because yours does not, it does not mean others do the same.avman633 wrote:

I agree with kracker. People and institutions with religions have as much right to that as those with no religion.

I'm sorry, but the kirpan thing is total bullshit. That is a weapon and has no place in schools. I'm sorry if it's infringing on your right to religion, but your right to religion does not trump my right to personal safety. They allow it for religious purposes but no other purposes. Yeah, fat lot of good that will do if someone decides they want to use it.
I mean seriously, I mean what if it was part of my religion to flog jewish people? Would that be "allowed"? Hell no. If their is a reasonable capacity to cause harm, that capacity should be removed. Period. A weapon is a weapon is a weapon. I don't care if it's the damn Lance of Longinus, it has no place in school.

exactly, all your freedoms are protected under the constitution (though i understand that one link was in canada) UNTIL they interfere with someone else's personal safety or the whole life, liberty, and the pursuit of happinessElamdri wrote:
