So, i went to school today. I'm sitting in class, the teachers playing music as always. My friend requests Christmas music, then we all start to request it. And she says "The district is no longer aloud to talk about or play anything about christmas"

WHATTTTTTT!!!!!

I remember in 1st grade we had secret santa, music, treats all sorts of fun! Now we cant even talk about christmas because it will OFFEND OTHER RELEGIONS! WHAT ever happened to RELIGIOUS FREEDEOM? I ask. Well it seems that it might offend other races and religions.

BULLSHIT.

(Note:I'm half jewish so this isn't biased)

I can't believe when we play christmas music its offending, but then the very next period some Muslim girl starts to say a prayer infront of the whole calss.

So when we sing its offending, but when she prays to Muhammad or whatever the hell, And i say it offends me, IM A RACIST!???!?!?!?

I can't believe how people from other countries are trying to ruin the american way! First they try to take out god in the Pedge, and now this?! If i went to Iran and went to a school there. And i said that it offended me, they wouldnt give a shit, if you come to a country you respect there ways of life, especially when they have had the same tradition for the last 300+ YEARS! God i mean seriously, lame

For me it would be a case of NO CHRISTIAN BULLSHIT, NO JEWISH BULLSHIT, NO MUSLIM BULLSHIT, NO HINDU BULLSHIT, NO BUDDHIST BULLSHIT. Same law applies to all in state institutions. Outside of that I don't care and prefer the Christmas message (even though I'm an atheist). It annoys me when shopping centres have 'Happy Holidays' bullshit instead of 'Happy Christmas' but thankfully here in Ireland that crap hasn't caught on.

There are some thing that are not meant to be fucked with. The Christmas spirit is one of those things. The number of planets is one of those things. Who makes the rules? I get much more offended by "Have a joyous non-denominational Winter Holiday" where there used to be Xmas signs, then I'm sure your average non-Christian is at "Merry Christmas". It wouldn't offend me, I don't have a tantrum every time I see "Happy Hanukkah". Like Marine said it might just be the left coast bullshit out here, but FFS there's a point in which it becomes rediculous.

On a side note on the topic of music in class, my Auto-Tech teacher played "Sick and Twisted Christmas Songs" and none of the Jews or the Muslim complained. We were all laughing our asses off regardless of faith.

The liberty granted allows everyone to practice or not practice equally, and decisions based on this are founded on the intolerance inherent in the faiths of today. I don't see how "our ways" have anything to do with christmas music, but forcing others that might not want to listen to it to do so is as un-american as you can get. We are in a more diverse time, celebrating the freedom that this country grants ALL of us (and not just christians). The dominance of christianity is finally falling and is being set in it's proper equal place with the rest of the faiths. It is not something to get mad at, it is simply the way this country was founded and is finally adapting back towards now that America has grown.

I understand with your principles, but a good portion of Christmas music doesn't touch religion, but more of the spirit of the time. Besides, I have no problem when my teacher plays jewish music or any other foreign music.

Oh and on the Spanish remark, I heard they were trying to get the National Anthem retranslated into Spanish.
