i was wondering how long this would take to get on the forums, first of all, each UN ambassador's duty is to protect the needs of their respective nation, not the UN, and that's exactly what bolton did, apparently his opposition is of the opinion it was his job to bend over and take it up the ass signing away our economic freedoms as fast as possible

Cameron I sincerely hope you know those guys play the party lines. Even when Rummy knew he was about to get canned he felt that he could then come out and say that there needed to be a serious change. Obviously he knew this before. Doesn't make it right but there is no doubt the party had his balls in a vice grip.

As for the 'Pfft. Bush Nominee' comment - I've known about Bolton longer than that. He's an integral part of PNAC, something I despise. The fact that he's a Bush nominee is incidental.

He has long held a very out-spoken opinion on the complete worthlessness of the United Nations and has always supported any rhetoric pertaining to American unilateralism in solving world crisis. During his confirmation hearings, it came out that he was also one of the most un-diplomatic people and very anti-intellectual to boot. To sum up, he was about the poorest candidate possible for a post as the US ambassador to the UN and his attempted appointment was a very clear slap in the face with a middle finger waving to the UN from the Bush administration.

If he truely is out job hunting today, thank god. Hopefully the next "candidate" Bush Sr. picks out for his little boy will have more of a statesman-like decorum.
