on 2142 all you do is on the log in screen where your soldiers are, there is a change profile button or something at the bottom of the buttons, in there it says change country. it will still be in english even if you click like Iraq or something.
in bf2 you dont. you're stuck with it.

at the bottom of the page there is info about changing your account details. It says you can change your country, I don't know if that's just for mailing address, or for BF2 player profile. Check it out yourself by contacting GameSpy (link is on that page).

Your bf2 profile IS is a gamespy profile. So just go onto gamespy, and try to change your profile.
