Thanksgiving is the celebration of two very different cultures coming together and helping each other. Something this forum could take a lesson from.

i think he means that Christopher Columbus didnt discover America. Its widely accepted Leif Ericson was the first one to come to America from Europe. Other than that, there have been theories that an Irish expidition found America around the 6th century, and that Arabs and Chinese sailors reached America far before that.
but leif turned around and left when he ran out of beer, chris stayed, for that matter caucasian mummies with tartan robes have been found in china's expansive deserts and mongolia, but you don't see anyone rushing to give anglos credit for discovering china
I still put even though there were already people here... hahaha
im thankful for every other American that laces up their boots by my side regardless of what branch of the United States military
I can end this discussion real quick. If Chrissy discovered America why were there people there to greet him?
Even though Columbus wasn't the first, his discovery (or re-discovery, if you prefer) is rightly regarded as the most historically important, and will continue to be even if other earlier claims are eventually proven true. That is because, unlike the others, Columbus inaugurated permanent large scale two-way commerce between the Old World and the New.

Holy Hell there's some dumb poo-poo heads around here. Christopher Columbus "discoverd" America for the Spanish/Portuguese who did not have a clue it was there. That's why it was considered discoverd.
Further, Columbus has nothing to do with Thanksgiving! lol He did his thing in the late 1400s and the Pilgrims came on the Mayflower and had a sit down with Squanto in the 1620s. They were English.
I give thanks daily, tomorrow is not special. We will eat normal food, then go volunteer at a large church center nearby that gives out food to people who don't have it. It's a family tradition we have. The best way to give thanks is not to bloat yourself but to serve others.
