Sure, I totally agree, the soldiers are asshats. ...But remind me of a single war where the enemy was treated equally, and with respect.

But if you really think about it, it didn't really do the kid much harm. Wasn't painful. When i opened that, I expected to see them open fire right in front of the kid, but not hit him, while he was chasing the water bottle or something disgusting along those lines.

Don't flame me though, just saying its not as bad you guys make it sound.

I think the point is that by doing what they did in the video, they make their own job harder and increase the chances of more of their buddies getting shot.

I hate to say it (and I'm talking out my arse now), but it seems the soldiers in Iraq are lacking any real support from their governments or people 'back home' whether US, Aussie, or Pom. In terms of that little job I mentioned before about "winning of hearts and minds"... I mean these guys are trained to kill, and it's like they're out their trying to be like fucking Santa Claus in fatigues. No wonder they resort to that kind of shit to get through it. I hope they get the support they need to finish the job they were sent to do, so they don't face the same welcome home the Vietnam vets got. They reckon the victimisation they faced from their own people on their return was as much a cause of PTSD as the war itself.

They're just kids. Blame their CO.

Maybe they need to project a wire mesh in front of their windshield.

Wow, that was impressive.  Maybe if those soldiers spent less time running around making themselves feel good and more time keeping their buddies in line there'd be a better perception of US troops overall.  Just a theory.  Or maybe they could concentrate on enforcing peace and stability.  But again, what would I know about military theory.  Maybe all the bloodshed means the good guys are winning?

By keeping guns out of the hands of militants maybe.............wait, no, then they're government will oppress them............silly me, who would want to live at the expense of not being able to shoot politicians!

Oh, and here's silly old me thinking that people with guns, tanks, and aircraft could maybe make an effort to, y'know, prevent the traffick of arms.  Crazy, crazy me though.  Everyone knows that the US Army is actually just a wartime postal service.  Bunny rabbits fight wars for the US, and they are utterly incapable of dealing with resistance.
