While I agree with you, I find it a bit hypocritical. It is ok for one black to call another black the N word. If it's going to be an offensive word to them, then it should be considered offensive, no matter who it comes from. I've also seen lots of black comedians be racust towards whites. Why is that not a big deal?
Yea, but blacks use it differently towards each other and usually don't put the "errrrr" in it, which doesn't sound as racist. He obviously used the word with racists intensions to offend them any how, because he was pissed. Theres plenty of racism in comedy, still doesn't make it right...

If the black man was one of the most famous faces in American you might have a point, but sadly, you don't.

I started a thread about his apology last night..... say what you want, but I believe him.  Irrational thinking, and especially when he was forced to act under pressure, will lead to him saying dumb things.  I think we've all said dumb things that we've regretted later on.  If he wasn't so famous, I don't think it would be so hard for him.

Doesn't matter how they pronounce it. The word still has the same meaning, and there for should be considered offensive no matter who says it. It does'nt change meaning just because someone of a different race says it, Hypocritical big time.

The word originally just meant "an ignorant person" in general, nothing else to it, but the meaning changed due to how it was used and who was using it towards who. So apparently it does change the meaning. It is hypocritical I agree, but nothing is going to change any time soon.

I hope he was just out of it and didn't mean what he said. But when they were sayin "That was uncalled for" he said something like "well thats what happens when you interupt the white man" or something like that, anyways that sounded like something a god damn "Klan" member would say...

Stuff like that tends not to just "come out" unless it's already present in the recesses of the (not so) subconscious. If anything, stress and drugs/alcohol simply remove the inhibition to say such things.

I agree with you. I'm also surprised this is such a big deal. "Nigga" from black person to black person is like "Dude" from white person to white person. The fact of the matter is, the meaning of the word had changed. It's not derrogatory anymore.

If the comedian was black, I would say this wouldn't be publisized at all. Because nobody cares if a black man calls another black man the "n-word". It's commonplace. Yes, he yelled quite a bit, but it seemed a bit deserved.

The fact of the matter is, it's racist for the "n-word" to be racist. A white man can't say anything bad about a black man, but then black guys crack white jokes all the time and get away with it. We accept the fact that black people use the "n-word" to refer to each other, as friends. Yet when a white man refers to a black man with the "n-word" the black man "busts a cap in dat foo".

Maybe Kramer should have had one of those "black and white" cookies before he went on stage!

It's basically boils down to you can make fun of your own race, but not other races. Even the blacks who call white's 'crackers' and such need to be spitted on, but's it's usually not a high profile black person saying those words anyway, so all this crap about blacks being able to call white's ' cracker ' is a bullshit approach.  If Rice made a joke about white 'crackers' it would definately raise ire. Those colored comedians who say 'cracker, white-shit' deserve to be spat on too. Just like white ppl who call names like the N word.

Complete utter BullShit!  racist, sexist, etc jokes happen all the time in every direction.  If it is done in a context such as the original post, then it crosses the line. Most racist jokes have the symptom of being told by inferior ppl no matter what color they are, it goes hand-in-hand.

I would love for you to find me a place where a white comidian has use "Nigga" or "Nigger" is his jokes, or for that matter find be a white comidian that has said "Look at that black boy".

Kramer made a huge mistake, but I really don't care considering they probably deserved it anyway, I really hope that wakes the country up to see the reverse racism that is a huge issue in America today.

Also that "They were slaves 150 years ago" doesn't work anymore. Why? Because it was 150 years ago.

his apology just served to show how fake hollywood and letterman are, dave used to be my favorite until he started weaseling his way into politics. so richards goes on letterman and uses a bunch of democrat talking points like hurricane katrina and the iraq war, and suddenly everything is beautiful. stick to comedy dave, leave the politics to "thoughtful people"

for those that don't know, "thoughtful people" is a reference to dave's last interview with bill o'reilly.

bill: do you want us to win the war on terrorism, yes or no?
dave: well you see......
bill: no it's a very easy question, do you want to win yes or no?
dave: well it's not that easy you see i'm a thoughtful person

i may not have quoted exactly but it's close enough to get the point, dave thinks all smart people thinks the free nations should be subjugated by terrorists. hooray dave!

i really wouldn't have cared if he hadn't pulled that lame stunt on letterman, no , i don't care for racism, but as he and i would never meet i merely see it as one more reason not to give him any of my money
