I hope I'm putting this in the right place! When I enter a server now, my Hard-Drive winds up and doesn't stop, till I exit the game.
System Specs:
AMD 64 Bit Duel Core 4600
ATI 800 Pro 256
2 gig memory(Kingston 4 x 512)
Seagate 120 meg H-drive
RS 480 Mother board.

I recently upgraded to the duel core, and am wondering if there is something within the BIOS that i have to adjust.
No, the hard drive isn't full. Its %86 empty!
I disk clean and def rag regularly.

No matter what server I go into to, the hard drive starts spinning, and doesn't stop!
Id appreciate any help in this matter.

I also uninstalled and manually re-installed the game. Loads very fast , no lag, choppyness, etc.

Im just scratching my head a bit!

Thx

Ok...not taking the piss...but are you sure its your HD and not the internal fans kicking in to cool the system as gaming heats the components up pretty high pretty quick.....

If its not the fans let me know...we can then look at changing your pagefile size...another possible cause

If your running your game off the CD its possible its your CD ROM spinning.

Thx for your input, guys. Its neither the cooling fans, or the CD. I took the side of my tower off, and listened closely. It is the H-drive.
I have experienced this before, with my old Processor, but with an uninstall and reinstall, cleared that matter up.

I wouldn't worry much, after all... they are designed to spin.

Actually, the speed doesn't vary much (read: very little) while you pc is on. The sounds might be the read write heads. Maybe a HDD expert can shine some more light on the situation. =]
