Yes, because it's a cop's job to taser people but school security are held to a higher standard....................?Miller wrote:
I think these officers are doing their job. Let it be. Of course, if it's the school security, fire them.
Having read the article (the video doesn't actually seems to show anything, other than it was painful), I've got to question the officer's response. This isn't necessarily a comment on the officers themselves, but perhaps on their protocols/guidelines (I don't know if they were in breach of them). Using a weapon on a person who poses no apparent threat to anyone feels wrong to me.
You know, I have been thinking for quite some time that quite a few ills of the world are caused by people never learning that there are consequences for their actions.
I think the number of people at UCLA who realise there are consequences just went up by 1.

What law? The law of being in a library with no I.D? LOL! That's worth physical attack? Fuck man, why don't we just beat the shit out of everyone who runs a red light? Your logic = truant.Major_Spittle wrote:

GASP! they listened to the police and weren't breaking the law!!!! What an epiphany.

But the fact he refused to leave and then resisted arrest means nothing right?Dec45 wrote:

that's one thing i've learned...you can't argue with liberals
so far there hasn't been any REASONING behind your statements, usually taken out of context, such as, "you think it's okay to taze people because they don't have an ids?"
how 'bout you come up with intelligent reasoning how the officers were not acting according to their training.

These officers are fucked, UCLA = Lawyers everywhere
Resisted arrest? The kid was a legit student. There was no law broken, and if there was it is equally ridiculous that it is above a citation.Snipedya14 wrote:

He didn't have proof of his right to use the library. Same as you have to have a license on you when you drive, not just have one.

Here's the part where you introduce yourself, and explain how you know what their training and protocol is...CoronadoSEAL wrote:

Here's the part where you realize people are allowed to question this training, regardless...
Here's the part where you realize that there was no NEED to use that form of force...
Here's the part where you realize how pointless this all was, and how easily it could have been handled, but wasn't...
There are levels of reasonable force. Would it have been appropriate to shoot him dead? No. So the question, then, is whether the actions taken were within bounds of reasonable.deeznutz1245 wrote:

Yes, resisted arrest. Is that so hard to grasp? The police wanted to arrest him, he would budge. Do I condone the use of the tazer? No. Do I condone the act of picking his ass up and throwing him in a squad car? You bet.Dec45 wrote:

sure, they probably could have done something else, but did they have to? no. did he earn the tasing? yes. do you see my point now?Dec45 wrote:
Just face it man, it was unnecessary. I wasn't aware people got arrested for their first offense when driving without a license. Maybe that's because you don't. A library should be even less of a problem. If you can go to jail for unlawfully using the library of the school you belong to, then this country is fucking doomed.deeznutz1245 wrote:

Alot of it was the suspect acting if you watch the video closley and see him jerk around and scream the officers are still hands on with him....If they tazed him they would get the shit shocked out of them also. Second of all if a citizen has a complaint take it to the department or ask for information after the situation calms down...No officer is going to tell you his name and badge number in the middle of making an arrest....Third if I was those officers when the students rushed aroudn there would be a hell of alot more people going to jail.
He should have just complied at first "Yes officer, I will go with you"
instead of screaming "GET THE **** OFF ME **#$^#^HOLE!"
These cops should be punished though, there's NO reason to taser a 'kid' 4+ times because he wouldn't get off the ground because you're too fat and fucking weak to pick him up.

No. Physically attacking a person is a LAST resort. You're a sick person if you believe a cop should use force whenever he feels like it, in favor over when he needs to. That's about as oppressive as a mentality can get.Ender2309 wrote:

Well they certainly don't leave them to drive on down the road.Dec45 wrote:

You seriously feel throwing a kid in county or city jail, over using his school's library without his I.D is a reasonable punishment? Get the fuck out of here... People like you exist? Wow... I think you need to relax.Snipedya14 wrote:

Electrical shocks can cause muscle spasms after they're stopped.-OGz-Badge wrote:

Right, you get a ticket and someone with you drives home, or you get your car towed and have to walk and/or call for a ride.Bubbalo wrote:

i know that officers are covered by their experience and instincts which can be a gray area of the law.Dec45 wrote:

i have acknowledged the fact that their actions [training] are being questioned, but instead of questioning by asking blank and one sided questions, i have already suggested that people who feel opposite me offer reasoning behind their statements
based on the video, the use of that force could have been avoided if the subject did not ''assault'' the officer or just complied as he was given the chance multiple times. would you rather the officers tackled and punched/clubbed the student instead of neutralizing him by use of the tazer?
i say punched/clubbed because i am assuming that he would have been resisting arrest as he was with the tazer.
?
How many people do you know that have been picked up without a license?
