DX10 will be only in Vista. However getting this card for the support only makes no sense, much cheaper and more energy efficient cards for DX10 with all the shader niceness etc. will come to market even before Vista becomes retail early 2007.
I myself wouldnt mind having one of those cards, and i'm not jealous for the ones that have it either. However i prefer keeping my 3 pc's leveled getting all of them to play BF2 and 2142 smoothly.
The energy consumption of these cards is outrageous. Thinking Intel and AMD are strugling to get their energy consumption down by lowering die sized and all, Nvidia and amd/ati are still in the FPS battle carring not for making more energy efficient cards at all, since they need to be # 1.
Honestly i made a calculation, (yeah i dont live with my parents and have to pay my energy bills monthly) i would have to pay 200 euro's extra every year on energy for this card alone having the PC on and running as much as i do.
Think about that as well, before purchasing it, you need a hefty PSU as well.
