Yeah actually, the terrorists that hate Israel could stop killing women and children all over the world. As long as they continue that practice, no one will listen to them.sergeriver wrote:

I even have precedence to offer:...........Libya and Momar Qaddafi has stopped his terrorist activities and is now welcome to join the rest of the world in trade and peace.
This is the same thing happening in the ME. We agreed in many points and then you started again with the blame the terrorists stuff.lowing wrote:

1) Israel act aggressively every single day of the week. They bulldoze the homes of mere relatives of people they know or suspect as having perpetrated an act of violence against them. They make movement between Palestinian towns impossible by building roads between settlements upon which Palestinians cannot travel, strangling the economy of Palestine (my experience of their tank-enforced curfew in Bethlehem was an eye-opener: Bethlehem is an open-air jail). They prevent Palestinian farmers from ploughing their land because their ludicrous occupied territory 'laws' allow them to steal the land if it hasn't been ploughed for two years. They cut into an already miniscule future Palestinian state with a ruddy great wall, which could quite easily have been placed in sovereign Israeli territory or along the green line. Said wall also entirely surrounds some towns, e.g. Qalqilya. Israel have a history of acting indiscriminately when it comes to retaliation: bombing a beach upon which families where picnicking, firing at Beirut airport and seaport in retaliation for the acts of a minority group within Lebanon, a recent 'technical error' of their claimed the lives of 18 civilians, they bombed a UN outpost for all the world to see in Lebanon, they carry out targetted assassinations that invariably claim the lives of an additional ten people each time, they intern without charge or trial, they evict people from their homes and steal their property, they bombed the nuclear reactor at Osiraq, they iniatied the Suez canal war and occupied the Sinai peninsula (if that ain't expansionism I don't know what is). The list goes on. Israel is both an aggressive nation and a defensive nation.lowing wrote:

2) The Jews who originally lived in Palestine and never deserted the place with their tails between their legs after the siege of Masada (Roman era) had a right to their homes in the middle east and jerusalem at the dawn of the 20th century because they had the resolve to STAY. Those who swanned off didn't - they let go of their claim with their lack of resolve, perservence, resistance to oppression and general character. That is my unshakable opinion. The Arabs weathered Roman oppression, why couldn't they? The reality on the ground now though is different - the jews are there to stay and they should have their 1948 border state. In short - back in the early part of the 20th century I believe the long-resident Jews had a right to be there, the immigrant ones didn't.
3) The Arabs might never allow the Jews to live in peace in the middle east. Arafat nearly hammered out a deal for them to have the 1948 Israel but that chance is long gone. It's just a crying shame no Israeli state was created between Germany and Poland: the real place it should have been placed.
4) Israel don't generally use human shields.

Are you saying that the Jews HAD every right to be there UNTIL Rome chased them off, so now they gave up their rights to their land?? Now that is kinda slanted isn't it?? Do you apply that logic to EVERYONE, or just the Jews?
Well, the past is the past, nothing can be done about the past. So rationality would dictate if the Arabs REALLY wanted peace with Israel, they need to start acting like it. I bet Israel knows that they will never be allowed to live in peace either. Also, it was the Arabs that refused to allow Israel t oexist in any way shape or form in the land, that you admit, belonged to the Jews. Hardly Israels fault.
Personally I do not regard Palestinian men, women and children as 'more down low than they are'. Nor do I regard Lebanese men, women and children in the same light. Nor do I regard the state of Egypt as it was in 1956 when it was attacked by Israel at the behest of Britain and France. I actually regard all men, women and children as equals. The acts of certain people cast some in an unsavoury, reprehensible and abhorrent light - like those of Hamas, Hezbollah and the IDF - but the fact remains that I fully support the cause of the Palestinians and nothing anyone actually does can diminish my belief in the fact that the Palestinians are pursuing a just cause (although often in a misguided manner).lowing wrote:

What relevance does your question as to 'who else does Israel battle?' have? They aren't wanted there quite obviously. They are about as popular in the middle east as a fart in a stuck lift. Who else do Hamas fight? Noone. Who else do Hezbollah fight? Noone. I don't get it.
You're taking words out of my mouth. Many Jews stayed in Palestine until the 20th century FROM THAT TIME. They didn't run off after the Roman suppressed the Jewish revolt. Those guys deserve respect. Those that left, the Jewish diaspora, were quite a success in the rest of the world, accumulating a lot of wealth and becoming highly educated and skilled. They can't possibly have expected that their abandoned homes would be there waiting for them while they carved out homes and lucrative businesses far far away. It's just ludicrous.
PS I NEVER ADMITTED THE LAND BELONGED TO THE JEWS.

I think it is revelent because, unlike the Jews ( who arefighting for their land in their eyes as well) the terrorists of the ME attack civilians all over the world. On pretty much every continent. The Jews are battling on disputed land, they are not bombing subways, embassies, trains, tourist resorts, night clubs, sky scrapers, airplanes, now to me as bad as you say the Jews are, they are a DAMN SIGHT BETTER THAN THE MUSLIMS.CameronPoe wrote:

What is irrelevant is the whole thread now the US vetoed the UN resolution condemning Israel attacks and pissed the Arab world off.
The logic that the Jews can't go back to Canaan, because they should accept the events that have happened, is the same logic that Palestinians can't have what the Jews reclaimed, because of the same reason. There are many other factors involved that cannot be excluded, but this is the bottom line behind the origin of everyone's argument.
Differentiation problems again Lowing. 'The Terrorists of the ME' is about as broad a term as you could possibly get. Palestinian freedom fighters are not like Al Qaeda terrorists: they have no global agenda. Read through the charter of Hamas if you like. They even advocate a country where freedom of religion can be practiced (I think it's in Article 39 or something I don't recall exactly). You can't tar them all with the one brush lowing. It's too broad. Palestinians aren't bombing anything outside of greater Palestine. You seem to confuse the Palestine question with the far more odious machinations of Al Qaeda and it damages your arguments for me because you really do need to differentiate between the two. Just because actions they take are similar does not mean they are similar organisations with similar goals.lowing wrote:

And Lowing I though inegalitarian and frankly racist talk would have been beneath you, but obviously I was wrong. And I never referred to 'Jews' I speak only of Israeli troops and security forces. I have met a massive number of muslims on my travels and they have been friendly, courteous, generous and mild mannered.

Munich Massacre: Aimed at Israelis.
FOX News Story: show me the link to said story from BBC or another source and I'll get back to you. It wouldn't surprise me though as Hamas lately declare US interests a target given that they build, supply and pay for all of Israel's weapons. The US is effectively the enemy now too. You must accept why that would be the case, c'mon.
LOWING! All of a sudden this jumped from being a discussion about Palestine to being one about Radical Islam and global terror networks. STAY ON TOPIC. Or learn to differentiate.
PS All this talk of who is worse than who is pointless - I could start dredging up the Sabra and Shatila massacre given the nod by war criminal Ariel Sharon and we can just spiral down into a petty tit for tat because there are plenty of examples of injustices on both sides. That's the problem - if people like you and me, removed from the whole issue, can't even overlook that kind of shit - then what chance do either side have of ever achieving peace.

I didn't say Jews were betterthan Muslims, I basically said, the Jews behavior throughout the world is better than the Muslims. But hey if that makes me a racist, then I am a racist.
Ya know, our recent election heard the voices of the people, they wanted change, they wanted liberal, democratic values back in govt.
the voices of Palistine was heard loud and clear, they wanted a terrorist organization to represent them. and so they shall.
That was their choice. They wanted change and they got it. It was more of a protest vote against the corruption of Fatah but they still chose what is regarded as a terrorist organisation. I just wished Hamas fought with more morals. But hey, that's life. As long as the Palestinians keep on slugging away and NEVER surrendering, just like us Irish, then maybe they'll win freedom from their foreign occupier. But under Hamas I don't think so.lowing wrote:

I don't really care if you recognize Fox News or not, just because it is on their website does not mean the story is a lie. You asked for who the Palistinians attacked other than Israel and I showed you.
The FOX story doesn't diminish my core belief in the righteousness of the Palestinian cause and the injustice of the Zionist one. Like I say - I distinguish by cause. Whether or not Palestinians are currently represented by what you might regard as terrorists doesn't influence that one bit.lowing wrote:
