well that would be becuase of WW2.  there were like all these armies and stuff trying to conquer the world.  we were racing germany to build the nuke, but then we beat em.  japan was developing a 'death ray' and we had completed the nuke.  then we were like SURRENDER OR WERE GONNA NUKE U. and they were like NO. then a week later we bombed them twice.  then they were like omfg hax, we surrender.


Yes, the USA is the ONLY country to have ever used a nuke.  We did EVERYTHING we possible could to NOT use it, and afterwards WE DID EVERYTHING TO HELP CLEAN IT UP AND REBUILD JAPAN. japan is now a good ally of ours.  and oh yeah, not a single country that currently has nukes would EVER use one.  its too terrible to even think of using one, but

I'm not denying the threat, but this is how I see it....  I believe Iran will get nukes either way.  We can do whatever we like in thwarting Iran in obtaining weaponry, but considering the terrain of Iran, it would be very easy for them to hide nuclear weapons.  They may even have them already.

Anyway, if we allow them to be open about having nukes, then that places a certain amount of responsibility on them.  Basically, we can conclusively prove that they are doing what you suggest if it becomes well-known that they have nukes.

Let's take a look at how Iraq turned out.  We thought they had nukes, but we weren't sure.  So, we invaded them, and we didn't find anything.  We didn't even find any other forms of WMD's.  Now, we look like assholes, and we have a lot of the world against us.

If it becomes obvious that Iran has nukes, they will have to be more careful in their connections to terror.  I believe most of their support for terror will end once they are saddled with such responsibilities and liabilities.  Otherwise, things could escalate, and they'd get blown to bits.

If we force their nuclear program underground, that will actually make it easier for them to funnel arms and nuclear materials to terrorists.  Basically, this all revolves around disclosure and transparency.

I agree that Russia was a great asset to the war in Europe.  Maybe the Allies could have won without U.S. involvement in Europe, but one thing's for sure...  Our help made things turn out for the better for Russia and the U.K.  Both of those nations would have been in much worse shape had it not been for our help.  We probably should have entered that conflict a bit earlier, but c'est la vie.

We did kick Japan's ass though.  Without us in the Pacific, Japan would control most of East Asia.

The reason you came out on top was because you were never realy involved in a war for your own country, even if the Japanese did take the Pacific they could never mount an invasion on you continent. Actually, we did have to ration things.  We rationed food and certain materials like metal.

I agree with most of your post though.  This is why I believe we're fighting the War on Terror in the wrong way.  We're having to deal with an insurgency with mostly our own forces and funds.  The U.K. is one of the few major nations that has helped us significantly in Iraq and Afghanistan, but aside from them, the burden mostly falls on us.

With a more traditional international military response, we are able to work with more infrastructural resources.  We have plenty of firepower in the U.S., but we need more translators, cultural advisors, and funds.  That's where the rest of the world comes in.

Well, he does have a point.  A lot of warfare is bullshit that's encouraged by the military industrial complex.  I think that perfectly describes the Iraq invasion.  I tend to be an isolationist myself, but I realize some intervention is necessary.  Afghanistan made sense, but Iraq didn't.

Russia, the United States, France, China, Great Britain, Israel, Pakistan, and India all have stockpiles of Nukes. I dont see a problem with Iran having them.
