This comes out of the mouth of one of our own officials?

Paraphrased here mind you: " If you stay in school, study hard, do your homework, Be smart, Youll go far, If you DONT, youll end up in Iraq!.  WTF Is this? This is a direct SLAM on our troops saying that they are Uneducated people. No matter how its spun, Its a slam no matter how you say it. Theres no way saying that could be a Joke towards the president as he is trying to slither out of it. He has also reiterated the same line.

Sad, very very sad when someone who was trying to be president of the US even spews something like this out of his mouth. typical.

That was just a kick in the teeth. Ive lost all faith in any choice in the next election in 08 if this is going to be the platform they will try to run on.

Why not have the news conference again, instead of posting a statement on his website?

You can say he was talking about the President all you want and this was not taken out of context. This POS regardless of party has shit on the military since he was discharged. This is not the first time he has ever put troops down. He is unfit to serve this country and I am ashamed that he wore my country's uniform. I wore that uniform and I wore it with pride even though I disagreed with our President.

Kerry's "apology" is too little/too late.  Get fucked!!!  If he can't read his cue cards, what does that say about HIS education???  Ass-hat!!!

It's too bad he gives Dems a bad name.  My Governor is a Dem and I (Republican) plan on voting for him next week.  He's done a great job for my state and then you get clowns like Kerry who screw it up.  WTF!!!

My condolences to the people of Mass.  It is a shame you have to put up with the likes of Kerry, Kennedy, and "Mumbles" Menino.  BTW, "The Swimmer", that's the first time I saw that and that is some funny shit.  Nice find.

Anyhow, an "appology" that says I'm sorry you took my joke the wrong way is not an appology.  An appology is when you say that you are sorry what you did or said was wrong, please forgive me.

Reminds me of the Nazi comments by Mutha when his appology was the same, "I'm sorry you took what I said wrong."

Kerry just handed the Republicans at least 1% in the polls...good job.  Now lets see what happens the next 5 days before the election to derail us now.

I like how tunnel visioned just about EVERY American sees Kerry's remark.

Truth of the matter is (as it has happened in History, *ahem* the Adams and Clay Calhoun corrupt bargain) Kerry took one for the team, being the democrats. This was an obvious scam that Kerry along with the democratic party had probably organized to create such a controversy, so other demo's would have their airtime on FOX, CNN, CSPAN, and such stating how "What Kerry did was a mistake and should be corrected" and then get their "HEY! But I'm no Kerry! Vote for me and other well credited democratics!". If any of you watched the reactions after Kerry's speech, you would have noticed at least 20 highly credited Democratic Senators (Including Hillary) commenting on how Kerry is a bad man, but they're still well practiced.

Do you think it a coincidence that Kerry did this a week short of elections?

Kerry was a dying runner, he took a bullet for the team, so the Democrats could take Senator and House of Rep. seats. It's obvious.

Harmor, don't be suprised if Kerry actually gained at least 2% for the democrats with this "mistake". Ironic, huh?

lol i LOVE how all actions with regards to politics that come close to elections is premeditated and intended to win votes....i'm sure the republican party tossed up the Foley scandal for some votes *nudge nudge* oh no wait a second it was to mask the Military Comission Act of 2006. Yeah, that peach is sure to sit well with the rest of the world. While Kerry bad mouths the troops the president basically interprets the Geneva conventions to his own accord, essentially opening the doors for our "enemies" to do the same and treat POWs as they see fit. Gee i bet military personal just love that.

oug wrote:

Kerry is stupid for saying that. He caused more damage to his campaign than anything the republicans can inflict upon it.

The thing is though, I recon people shouldn't pay so much attention to what is said, rather that to what is actually being done. If you think that Kerry's remark is offensive, just watch Aaron Russo's film and you will see that you should be offended by other things a lot more, things that have been put forth by all those in power, regardless of the party to which they might belong. I say this because I see 3 pages of posts about a stupid remark and only 30 responses to the trully sinister situation described in "Freedom to Fascism".
Your absolutely right...the actions that this administration has taken has pretty much shit all over America's foreign policy. We invade countries that didn't attack us, IE Afghanistan, then we proceed to invade another country, Iraq, with faulty information that was KNOWN to be faulty and basically cherry picked. So lets see in summary this administration doesn't give a fuck about the troops it wants money in the form of contracts given to corporations that rebuild the countries we blow the shit out of the water.

Welcome to the military-complex.

And why not? Hell, I'd say he was a step ahead of your Kerry
I'll give you a touche on this one, but I would say it was bit of a different case, as his records were (not under his will) pulled up by others. Kerry's came straight out of his own mouth.

Do you really think our "enemies" follow a code of war? Please; they've been slicing our troop's throats since day one in this war. Do you honestly think the Geneva conventions affect how our "enemies" follow a "law of war"? And here we are today discussing the issue of water boarding. It's disgusting.

Yes, but the difference is that the Australian defence force has a completely different focus.  Like Britain, we concentrate on a small, elite force.
So let me get this one straight, Is this just in Iraq? Or are you saying that this is the policy in Aus? Anti Military? Keep it Small? Just wondering, because i Dont know about your govts. Stance on its Countrys defense. But a weak Military shouldnt be a stance to take, especially with China Comeing up in the world.
What he means is instead of going on massive recruitment drives (though I believe there are a few going on right now, we have about 8 regiments in the entire ADF), we focus on new technologies, some of which you have undoubtedly seen (JSF, Desert Storm, Collins class sub (that one failed miserably however)...)

I understand the Australian Defence force has about 65000 members. To defend a population of 20,000,000 odd people in a country slightly larger than USA. Pretty small - adequate for the current situation, but if someone big decides they want our land - we're screwed.

So please be our friend Mr. USA.

sad but not wrong.

from which part of the society, soldiers are mostly recruited? it´s the poor and those with a lack of chances. how can someone get more chances in life, to rise up from poverty? it is education. if you don´t put all your effort in education - your last chance might be the army.

kerry isn´t saying, that troops are dumb.

he speaks truth, because upperclass collegekids do not have to go to war.

Blown so out of proportion it isn't even funny...here we have a President throwing American lives away for no reason other than to further his own agenda, and EVERYONE jumps on Kerry for botching a snide comment.

Yet, such is the nature of election season, when all of us are supposed to jump if the opponent drops his hat on stage...
