after being in Iraq for 12 months I had to come back home to find out that we were "losing" over there.  could have fooled me.

As for being in the same areas both times.... Its hard to not be in the same area twice when you're capable of moving 500 miles in one day and be ready to do combat ops the next.  Gotta love the Stryker.

I'm sorry DBBrinson1 if you think liberals are brushing this aside, but the fact is this video doesn't really say anything... I mean cmon... vaccinations? Ok. Cell phones? They had 'em before during Saddam's regime. Freedom of speech? Please... There is no proof either. Its just a small video designed to make a general impression and nothing more. It would be nice if someone could provide actual facts (and proof if possible) about the positive side. I doubt not that being there does have some advantages, I'm sure that the US army is doing at least some good in something... But it is my belief that it cannot be compared to the overwhelming negative aspects of your presence in Iraq.

LOL. Japan and Germany almost totally peacefully went about reconstructıng theır respectıve countrıes post-WWII from what was essentıally square one. I don't see ANY evıdece of that happenıng ın Iraq. Japan and Germany were happy to take aıd from the US to help them reconstruct. The Mehdı army and other very popular IRAQI organısatıons want nothıng to do wıth the US. All across the board, even ın Washıngton, they are concedıng that the coalıtıon presence there ıs makıng thıngs worse. I thınk what we wıll have ın Iraq ıs a faıled state or faıled states. They've managed to do to the US/UK what Afghanıstan dıd to the USSR.

Absolutely. The US-Iraq/USSR-Afghanistan analogy is pretty good though.

Iraq is going to become a fundamentalist Islamic state. A lot like Iran. Many of the top people over there have said that the initial goal of turning Iraq into a fully functional democracy is probably unattainable and now Iraq is forming close ties with Islamic states like Iran and Syria the situation is going from bad to worse.
