You are a moderate populist. You believe that the government is the primary tool for solving problems so long as the government stays within certain boundaries such as democracy. Most major parties in developed countries, including the American Republican and Democratic parties, are moderately populist.

You scored higher than 99% on Freedom

EDIT: So I'm just slightly authoritarian, not that I'd actually want to live in the USSR, but I think it was good for the world for the US/USSR to balance each other out somewhat. Stability and all that.

You are a moderate. You believe in selective government intervention. Sometimes, you believe, the government is the solution, while at other times you consider it to be the problem. You tend to analyze each situation in a pragmatic way to determine whether or not government intervention is necessary. In America, most traditional conservatives and hardcore liberals, despite their differences on many issues, are moderate in that they support a medium level of government control.

You are a moderate libertarian. You believe that, by its nature, government control tends to do more harm than good. However, to maintain a certain level of order, you stop short of any anarchic beliefs. Moderate libertarian groups in the United States include the Republican Liberty Caucus, the Democratic Freedom Caucus, the American Civil Liberties Union and the Cato Institute.

The word libertarianism may have one of several distinct meanings in politics and philosophy.

Since the 1950s, the term libertarianism has been used in the English speaking world to define a modern branch of classical liberalism. In this sense, libertarianism (also called libertarian capitalism or propertarianism) is an individualist and capitalist ideology that emphasizes individual rights, including the right to own property, and personal freedom.
Before the 1950s, and in most of the non-English speaking world today, the term libertarianism (particularly in adjective form: libertarian) is used to define libertarian socialism, a group of related ideologies that share elements of anarchism and socialism. Libertarian socialism is an egalitarian and anti-authoritarian movement that emphasizes collective or cooperative property, anti-capitalism, individual rights and personal freedom.
Since both of the above versions of libertarianism have in common the fact that they support personal freedom, the term civil libertarian is often used for any person who advocates personal freedom, regardless of what other political views he or she may hold. The Political compass is notable for using the term libertarianism to refer strictly to support for personal freedom.

This test is interesting, but a bit 2D. I judge its accuracy within +/- ~50 points.

We actually seem to have some authoritarian people here.  Course I think that's cause most of us grew up in a world with governments basically described in this test, and dont' really seem to realize how much it has changed in the past 30-50 years from the good ol' days.

That's the point I'm trying to get across.  The world of today is much closer to Linin and Mussolini's ideals than what they had back then.  Back then they were extremests, today, they probably wouldn't be considered extremests at all.  Government thinking around the world has really changed in the past 50 years, and personally I find it disgusting, but I really doubt anything short of civil war will change it.

I don't think the test is very effective, though.  Different reasons for an answer would affect the outcome.
