Yeah the games should be free if they have ads in them. Also all newspapers should be free cos they have ads in them. Also cable television should also be free because there's bunch of commercials on them. Also driving on the free way should be free because of all the build-boards. And why should we pay to go to a football game ?? I mean all the teams and players make millions from commercials and sponsors right ?? Come to think of it all sport events should be free. And also music concerts should be free because they have sponsors too and if I buyed their CD why should I pay for the concert. Also driving in the subway should definitely be free. I mean there are thousands of billboards every where. Also cinema should be free because there is atleast 10 commercials before every movie ffs.

Agree ^^^^

The selection should also have "Are you ready to pay more for a game that doesn't have ads?"

it all really depends on where that extra revenue goes...

if it helps to pay for frequent patches and bonus maps, etc etc then thats one thing

but lets say they sell 200,000 copies @ $50, thats $10 million in revenue, granted a portion of that goes as it should to the retailer, but i dont really get why they cant pay a small team to maintain the game.

how much do you think the ads will generate in BF2142?

btw, i didnt buy 2142; came close when i seen it at the store last weekend but i held off, maybe i will get it...

i think they really messed up with the demo cause before that i really wanted to buy 2142.

Why is everybody whining about the in-game ads?
First of all. I have not yet seen a active in-game ad.
And what would be so bad about it. The most problematic part is that they record where you look at and send it to there servers. But beside of this. As long it does not disturb the game play or the style of the game. (No ads in fantasy rpg or stuff like this.)
But ads help to finace a loot of very usefull things. TV ads give us free tv-channels. Newspaper ads help to run the newpapers or make the even free too.
Why not in games. They just should not disturb the game.
But if there is a fake or a real ad on the wall....... who cares. As long it would be for the good of the game.....

What do you think?
I understand that EA needs to generate more revenue...so how about remove the ads and charge a subscription fee. Or sell two versions of the game: one for $30 with ads or one for $50 without ads. Or, remove ads and  charge a small (something like $5) monthly fee to have persistent stats and unlocks.

I for one would gladly pay more for the game to get it without ads.
