So my pc crashed while I was playing BF2; I restarted and went back into BF2. Only now my account is missing, I go to manage accounts and can retrieve it, great, except its wiped all my settings. So I put everything to what it was, but crouch won't map to anything other than left ctrl. It won't let me map to shift, as it says its found in heli settings (it's not), and it will map to caps lock or backslash, but pressing these ingame does nothing, only the left control works.
It's really annoying because I can't instantly find it with my little finger like I can with the other ones. Anyone help please?

edit it directly in your profiles controls.con file (with notepad, not wordpad)...infact check first that your old profile is not still there, you can simply swap the file to your new account if so, profiles are stored in my documents/battlefield 2/profiles/000n, with n being a number, each profile has its own.  If you have several numbers, open up the profile.con file in each one to see the gaming name for that account and work back from there.

How do you edit it? I can't open it.

right click on any .con file and go to 'open with' and 'choose program'.  In the box that appears, put a tick in the box saying 'always use the selected program' then scroll down till you see notepad, highlight it and click OK.

Now all you have to do in future is double click on any .con file and itll automatically open in notepad for you.
