Military policeman killed in Iraq ID'd
A Fort Bragg Military Police soldier died in Iraq on Monday, October 2nd, the Army said.
Sgt. Joseph W. Perry, 23, of Alpine, Calif., died in Muhallah, Iraq, when his mounted patrol came in contact with enemy forces using small arms fire during combat operations.
Perry was assigned to the 21st Military Police Company, 16th Military Police Brigade, 18th Airborne Corps.
He is the second soldier from the company to die in Iraq, and the fifth soldier from the brigade to die in Iraq.
Perry entered the Army in August 2002 and was assigned to the 21st MP Company as a military police team leader in February 2003. He deployed to Iraq in December 2005.
Perry previously served at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, where he was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 43rd Adjutant General Battalion and B Company, 795th Military Police Battalion.
Perry’s awards include a Bronze Star Medal for valor.
