well i just got back from my last tour (4 total) just before the game came out so thankfully i wont be missing out. but in your case just remember to keep your head down. and there is no such thing as retreating think of it more as tactifully regrouping to overwhelm your enemy with sheer numbers and better firepower. also there Ive learned that there is no such thing as an atheist in a foxhole/bunker when the enemy knows where you are at and lets you know with a few morter rounds. yes even he was saying "oh God oh God oh God"

Sorry horseman, but I think you are one of the most narrow-minded person I've ever seen...
Making these kind of stereotypes is just... stupid.
I1m sorry but my family is more important than my country, and getting myself killed for nothing wont help them.
I wont say this if it was to DEFEND my home from AGGRESSORS...
Your family is a part of this country, its not about importance or priorities here.  Its about what you love and hold dear.  You like the ability to sit in your room and play BF2?  Well you think that we would even have BF2 if more people were like you in WWII?  What if Hitler won?  Your ass would be speaking German and English would be your second language, if you were even allowed to have that!  What if more people were like you and we didnt have those wonderful SOCOM troops during the Cold War?  How far would the Iron Curtain's shroud affected us?  And you know what a good DEFENSE is only comparable to a good OFFENSE.  I bet you were one of those Americans that called for blood on September 11th 2001, and here you are 5 years later whining how we need to leave Iraq because troops are getting killed, and people are suffering.  Well its NARROW minded people like you that does not see all the good we are doing over there.  Watch CNN and you get lies son.  You dont have the first god damn clue what it means to serve your country!  Iraqi Security Forces are all but up and ready to go, we are still hot on Osamas tracks (ok maybe not), but regardless of what you believe and all the crap you hear on the news is often prettied up to get ratings, thats the cold hard truth son.  And am I not mistaken but have we had an attack on US soil since 2001?  I think not!  Yeah the cowards attacked London, but something is being done about it, and I promise now that they got a wake up call, and if im not mistaken we are backed by them more now than ever!  Get your facts straight, dont comment on a subject you have no idea about, you aint got the first clue of what it means and what it takes to serve your country that has given you more freedom than you know what to do with and you take for granted on a daily basis.  So sit on your butt and play games, enjoy your freedom, but dont forget about the boys sweating their ass off and working 12-18 hour days with little to no days off, good hot showers, sand/dust storms, sleep deprived, sleeping in dirt holes, sick, missing wives children, son/daughters first steps, their child being born, etc.  These men all sacrifice so you can do this.  And i sincerely hope you take what i have said into serious consideration all of you that smart off to this troop taking 4 months to a year or more off his life to make sure people are safe.  God bless!
Too bad most of the people fighting in Iraq are brainwashed into thinking a self-centered point of view, it's just my opinion but you don't invade another country over something like 9/11, you should have done it to get rid of Saddam, but it seems that was a fallback plan instigated by Bush in case WMD's were found.

Most people would reply saying it's in retaliation to 9/11, they killed women and children etc., oh so, it's really bad if THEY do it, but it's ok if you recklessley bombard a city filled with civilians? Oh sure, there's justification in that.

Yeah, anyway, Good Luck, stay low and all that other stuff, don't come back in a casket, which you probably won't.
Did you really just say we recklessly bombed the city? Oh man....honestly that messed up. 95% of all the bombs dropped were either laser/GPS guided bombs. I wouldn't really call that reckless.

Can you please point us to the survey which indicates that 'most of the people fighting in Iraq are brainwashed?'  Oh, there is no such survey?  Well, then maybe you can publish the interviews you did with 'most of the people fighting in Iraq' which led you to that conclusion.  Don't have that either?  Can you tell us about your trip to Iraq which acquainted you with the situation and made you aware of what the soldiers have seen and know?  No on that too, huh?  Shame.

Ok let's try something else; how about information which shows that a 'city filled with civilians' was 'recklessley bombard[ed]'?  I'd be very interested in that one - seeing as how, when I was over there, the military was so PC you absolutely had to be attacked upon before you could fire so much as a peashooter.  Probably talking about Fallujah?  I operated in and around Fallujah for months.  EVERY time I did a patrol in that city I was engaged.  EVERY time.  Other cities had areas that were just as bad.

Sorry, but if enemy combatants use a building, an area, or even a whole section of a city for cover, that building or area or section of a city becomes a legitimate military target.  The alternative is to stick your head in the sand and take casualties because you are afraid of hurting civilians - thankfully even US forces aren't so PC that they accept that kind of idiotic thinking.

Come back when you understand the law of war, or have some experience or knowledge about what you are talking.  Right now, you are clearly sounding off on a subject you know nothing about.

maybe we are forgetting something.
A) the war on terror (as a result of 9/11) is compleatly different that the war on iraq. hence the 2 different operations...OIF OEF.
Rudebwoy. your right carrying a gun doesnt make you a better perosn and you have your own veiws which you are entitled too. and since your in Hungary and it makes no difference to you then why do you post a reply to a topic here. this guy is going over to Iraq in which some people dont come back. ive been close to adding my name on that list. He voluntarily took a wepon into his hands as a tool of his trade and if that means that his superior officer tells him to go attack something or go give a hand in delivering humanitarian aid to a more deprived population then yes hes got my vote as being a better person than those who sit at home protesting what he does. and that goes for everyone who is over there.

I2elik what athe hell are you talking about, do a little research before you go saying crap like that. yes we did go to iraq due to wmds but also the fact that he was harboring terrorist and funding some of the terrorist operations. and i hardly think im brainwashed. most of the people there dont want to be there either. but they are doing a job that they "voluntarily" signed their good names to. its a contract. if you sign a contract and you dont like it you still have to follow through with it right? yep you sure do. im sorry you feel that being patriotic enough to serve makes you brainwashed. iraq was only partly response to 9/11. while afghanistan was a direct result to 9/11 since the taliban government was a puppet organization in which bin laden held most of the power in that country. so yes it was nessecary to invade. and for your information most of the population in iraq appreciates what we are doing there. its kind of sad that the country we invaded has more respect and appreciation for us being there than the people who never step foot outside of their own countries unless its on vacation.

and if yall dont like it then why are you playing a game thats based on it.

but i digress good luck again no_way hope to see you online when you get back.

What does it say about a war when you have to rely on people upholding a contract? I'd like to see how many people in the military would opt out of service if it could be done without repercussion. The "evidence" was clear before we invaded Iraq. I don't care if you would have supported this war no matter what. I'm just disgusted at those (the general populus) who all of a sudden became shocked after the 9/11 Commission Report.

phnxfrhwk made one of the best statement regarding the situation. I have never been to Iraq since my country does'nt support none UN sanctioned missions. However my heart goes for everyone that put their life on the line for their respective country. But i feel that we can all agree on that it sucks to be in a situation never knowing who is friend or foe, like it is in Iraq and in some cases in Afghanistan. So take care brother and come home safe.

Tours:
1 Bosnia, 1 Macedonia, 1 Kosovo, 1 Kongo, 1 Liberia, 1 Afghanistan

Its allways interesting to see that those moaning and bitching are those who never been or done military service in a hostile country. But sure there are assholes in every army and if you send a 19 year old kid to war he/she is not mature for the task ahead and flipps out due to the situations that no civilian asshole ever came close to.

Ohh by the if i may come with some "Leassons Learned" use sht loads of ducktape and put spare mags all over your vehicle, also if you have spare body armour (kevlar) "skirts" (dont know the eng word for it) should be 1 for the butt and 1 for the front. These could be used as extra protection when travelling, they should be placed on the door and on your seat. Buy some wraparound protective goggles and have them allways on while in transport.

Guys, can we all stop pissing over this thread with political debate? When a soldier is departing to serve in another country, you can atleast be courteous and wish him best of luck for survival. It is not the soldier who decides political doctrine, so dont go bugging them. I mean, you could compare it to those protesters at soldiers' funerals. Just show the man a bit of respect.

It is sad how quickly these threads can turn into threads about people who are for the war against terror and those who are against it.

off topic:
Over the past 5 years at my small private high school, 1 person has gone ROTC.  That is roughly 1 in 600 people.  In our class of 100 there will be about 6 of us going ROTC.

on topic:
A little late, but none the less.  I give you good luck...err.... I mean providential good forturne.

Remember in real life battlefield, there are no spawn points, if you get shot a bag of first aids ain't gonna help ye, and - god forbid - if you get hit bad, shock paddles arn't gonna help. [/bf2 related to real life] Anyways, thanks for serving and protecting the U.S. Hey, and if you get the chance, paint BF2s on the side of an M1 and take a picture. Yeah...That'd be cool.

Good luck, PsP

You Americans really have no clue do you. Good luck, cannon fodder. See you in a Vietnam-style movie in about 20 years when US citizens realise you're all pawns of greedy businessmen and the neo-nazi israelis and that this war has multiplied global anti-western sentiment to insurmountable levels.
