it was a quote by Chaz Bufe. I don't think you are understanding what i am trying to get at. The war in Iraq is unjust. To go there thinking you are serving your 'country' is naive. Unless serving your country now means to support the econimic growth by occupying land that has more resources and handing your companies the contract. Yes Sadam was an asshole, yes he needed to be removed, but he had nothing to do with this so called 'war on terror'. Im all for supporting troops if it is a just war. WW2 is an example. But Sadam was in no means a threat like Hitler was. So to blindly follow your egotistical, money grabbing utalitarian government is NOT patriotic. It is the exact opposite. Your foriegn policies are inciting hatred around the world. There are many more things i could say but no doubt the 'patriotic' ones out there will call me a left wing hippe blah blah blah so it isn't worth it. America is just one confused, messed up young country like every other country was and still is in some cases. It's like a spoilt child with big toys. I don't think _you_ get what _I'm_ saying. If you choose to serve your country, you don't get to choose where you go and where you don't. It _must_ be that way to ensure civilian control over the military.wlater12 wrote:

Good luck, and stay safe!
Just wondering... Did they teach you bunny hopping and dolphin diving in basic?
Stay safe.
Stay safe.
keep your head down mate
Well untill you have seen someone's shadow on a wall made out of their blood with 3 bullets to the head and 17 to the torso you can kiss my ass. They shot at me enough when i was over there and had a chinese rocket land 25 yards from me that didn't detonate almost made me shit myself. Balad is like the land of mortars....most the time they can't hit shit though. Still was so much fun in that 130 degree heat. Good Luck man cause you will need it. I go back there again next January round about....wooo hooo round two(FUCK ME). I believe in the cause.....i just hate the heat.wlater12 wrote:

The very existence of armaments and great armies psychologically accustoms us to accept the philosophy of militarism. They inevitably increase fear and hate in the world.
Where is it written in the Constitution, in what article or section is it contained, that you may take children from their parents and parents from their children, and compel them to fight the battles of any war in which the folly and wickedness of the government may engage itself?
I'll be leaving soon hopefully. Im trying to get back in the Army. My medical waiver has been turned down 3 times already. So it looks like I might only be able to get back in if I go National Guard. Which is ok, as long as I get back in. I just wanted to go 11B, but my recruiter is pushing me to go 18X and eventually 18B. We'll see, going to 46 weeks of training isn't too much fun. But Special Forces would be fun. If I decide to go 11B, Rangers is were I would try and end up at. Unfortunatley, I have to do basic over again, but its not too bad. Maybe ill see you over there. I would probably be attatched to the 20th Special Forces Group based out of Maryland. Good luck soldier. BTW, what MOS are you?

Don't bunnyhopp and teamkill. And be careful with hitting teammates with the HMMWV, they'll just die. And no n00btoobing. And watch out for claymores! And no chopperwh0ring! And no planewh0ring.

Saddamn Hussein was a despot yes, but if he would not be the first stop down that road. This war is about securing Iraqs oil resources, is that defending the US Constitution that you swore to do ?

Dude absolute best of luck to you over there, I just did a tour over the summer. I was at Al Asad airfield with almost all Marines (I am USAF), I made alot of good friends over there, and some drinking buddies when we returned. I could tell you all day long to stay low and all that. But the thing to remember is to stay safe and always, even if it sounds completely retarded and stupid, do what your CO tells you, it may be stupid or retarded, but hes telling you to keep you alive at the expense of his own life. I made the most of my time, and thats all you should be thinking about. Take pics of family, keep us updated. and if you IM me your E-mail addy over there, I will send you screenshots of the new booster packs and all that! Keep us up to date and stay safe, come home in one piece. America is behind you and we support you!

Your family is a part of this country, its not about importance or priorities here. Its about what you love and hold dear. You like the ability to sit in your room and play BF2? Get your facts straight, dont comment on a subject you have no idea about, you aint got the first clue of what it means and what it takes to serve your country that has given you more freedom than you know what to do with and you take for granted on a daily basis. So sit on your butt and play games, enjoy your freedom, but dont forget about the boys sweating their ass off and working 12-18 hour days with little to no days off, good hot showers, sand/dust storms, sleep deprived, sleeping in dirt holes, sick, missing wives children, son/daughters first steps, their child being born, etc. These men all sacrifice so you can do this. And i sincerely hope you take what i have said into serious consideration all of you that smart off to this troop taking 4 months to a year or more off his life to make sure people are safe. I hate this "war," (It's really not a war, as Bush never went and got Congressional approval to go to formally declare War on anything), I hate the people who instigated it, and the people who made it happen.
But I support your entry into our Armed Forces, despite whatever mission you are sent to carry out. You go serve, and the rest of us will do our own battles here to bring you guys home.

Here is the primary thing though. We went to war to defend out country from cowardly attacks on innocent civilians. They killed women and children, people who had just started to see what life had to offer. Now imagine if someone had flown two planes into one of your most important establishments killing thousands with out reason. You would definately want war and call for their blood. Its human nature to want vengeance for killing innocent people. The damage we have done to their organization though is substantial. We have kept them on the move, frozen countless accounts, killed or captured, and kept them from attacking american civilians. While yes we have lost lives in the war they have lost alot more than we have. Just think about that, in a way we are defending out families and upholding the oath we took on our enlistment or commission. I know any country if they had the power to do so would do what we are doing. And FYI....the oil is not in US controll. Its now in the Iraqi Governments control.
Straight and simple to the point is, if your country is in danger, your family will fall right behind it. Your country should then be placed in that priority spot by default. If those assholes break the countries barriers, they eventually reach home, to your family. Will they, more than likely not, because all of Europe would stop that, and even we would step in, just to say we were involved. Dont take what I said too seriously dude, not to be mean, but I dont expect you to understand, im not being sarcastic at all, I really am not trying to be an ass. I mean I know how it feels to serve, I know what its like and how to do it. Because I know that things like 9/11 have a massive domino effect, as it proved, and if I want to keep my family safe I keep my country safe, even if that does mean i do a job pushing pallets, loading and balancing aircraft. I dont really feel like going into a massive speel about what i do, I just got off shift. But...we push really heavy stuff on really big airplanes! HOOORAH!!
Allright man, I accept your point.
You are right that I dont really know how a war really goes. You are right that I dont know what it takes to serve my country.
But the question that triggered this whole argument was: Does this make me a bad guy?A coward? An ignorant ass?
I was just reacting to Horseman77's post on those people who did not fight.
But Im glad we could settle this.
I've never said that I have a problem with you guys.Never.It is just sometimes weird what your president does.
I dont know what is really going on, noone knows (as you said: "Watch CNN and you get lies son!")
and noone knows the real one and only reason you are fighting for.
But maybe that person who wrote this (maybe in this topic, I dont know) has a good point:"Dont fight for the cause, fight for the man next to you."

Too bad most of the people fighting in Iraq are brainwashed into thinking a self-centered point of view, it's just my opinion but you don't invade another country over something like 9/11, you should have done it to get rid of Saddam, but it seems that was a fallback plan instigated by Bush in case WMD's were found.d3v1ldr1v3r13 wrote:

Most people would reply saying it's in retaliation to 9/11, they killed women and children etc., oh so, it's really bad if THEY do it, but it's ok if you recklessley bombard a city filled with civilians? Oh sure, there's justification in that.
Yeah, anyway, Good Luck, stay low and all that other stuff, don't come back in a casket, which you probably won't.
