The problem is ...the whale population has recovered so well it is now at levels previously unrecorded...so they reckon they can get a couple of good years out of them before they ban it again.....like trout farming!!
Sweet. I've always wondered what whale tastes like...
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something. - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.
The population is recovering, but they're still endangered species. The population of Humans is now at levels previously unrecorded, let's hunt some.joker3327 wrote:

Norway and Iceland need to hunt whales becuase their people are starving.</sarcasm with capital SSSSSSSSSSSS>

I saw in National Geographic that cannibals thought humans taste fantastic, let's eat humans then. There's no need or excuse.herrr_smity wrote:

No, but I don't eat meat from endangered species. Yeah, I know I'm a hypocrite. I love burgers, but there's a difference. While there are a few thousand whales in the world, only in Argentina there are 80 million cows.herrr_smity wrote:

The fin whale, the second largest living mammal, has been severely impacted worldwide by commercial whaling. Nearly 750,000 animals were killed in areas of the Southern Hemisphere alone between 1904 and 1979. They are rarely seen there today.

Its senseless to hunt whales, we have the technology to make oils and soaps with out the use of natural products like whales.. we should have figured that out by now. Isn't Jappan aslo whaling "for research perposes"?
Yeah i don't really agree with it unless the population has grown to such and extent that it is in the spiecies is theating its self..

We are way too far from that. Check www.panga.org, WWF site and you'll find out.|BFC|Icenflame wrote:

nothing hypocritical about it, humans are predators, your eyes are on the front of your head, your nostrils point forward as do your ears, all better for tracking, you have incisors, and if you don't eat meat you start to suffer malnutrition and early osteoperosis and such, I hunt (though haven't been able to in years) and fish, but i don't do so with endangered animals either, and i try to do so in the most humane way possible, that's why hunting ammo is so much more lethal than what you'd find in say an AK or MP-5, and whatever i hunt has alot better chance of getting away than that burger did.sergeriver wrote:

While they`re at it lets start hunting orangutan and pandas too, i bet they taste great.
I don't agree with hunting at all, but your way at least is respecting endangered species.kr@cker wrote:

There was this chef in Iceland, I heard about him while I was there. He bought up a shitload of the last whale harvest and had this vacuum chamber built to preserve it indefinately. Still had quite a bit left. Bet he feels like an ass now.
my philosophy is, animals hunt and kill each other for food, and they eat humans when they get a chance, so I'm just participating in the whole "ciiiiiiirrrrcle uv liiiiiiiiiiiiiiife" (why do some brit singers end up with a southern-american accent when they perform?)
lol we're not starving and yes we hunt it becouse it taste good and both iceland and norway are fishing countrys and the whales eat alot of fish in the see, so there's nothing left for us hereherrr_smity wrote:

I don't like it if whales died out but something has to be done and we problebly wount kill 'em all ;D
I've been to a couple culls here in SA on my friends game farm... its amazing how some species of buck specially Springbok populations grow so quickly ok so my friend doesn't have any natural predators on his farm like lions etc hes got a Leopard or two but u never see them and they occasionally make a kill.
But like i said the only time i ever hunt is during the culling season, if they didn't cull the buck there would be no more grazing on the farm for them to eat! so we must step in to adjust the balance, jee humans are great meddlers in all things aren't we ?

PETA and Greenpeace actually try to stop state sponsored culling hunts, even when the deer are suffering from an epidemic of "chronic wasting disease" wherein no matter how much they eat, their body doesn't absorb/process the food, allowing entire populations of the deer to die over a matter of weeks due to starvation as well as continue to spread the disease, as opposed to a quick bullet to the chest cavity, i swear, they don't think matters through
