iTunes vs. Media Player

I searched and didn't find anything so...

I've always gone back in forth. First Media player, then to iTunes after the release of v.7 and now back to Windows media palyer with the release of v.11

So which do you guys prefer? (if you choose "other" post what and why)

iTunes is an awesome program. I used to use WMP all the time - then i got an ipod, and now its not contest - iTunes rules, WMP sucks

It depends on what you want to do. I use VLC for almost everything, because it plays everything I throw at it. I think that I use WMP 10 more for video, but I do not us iTunes for anything at all. Until a few months ago, when I started creating podcast, I did not have iTunes installed on my PC.

i was the same way with itunes because my ipod, but since ive dl media player 11, i use that for everything except ipod related functions. vlc is great, but i usualy dont have anything mp cant handle

iTunes. Why? Because it plays .m4p iTunes files, WMP doesn't, and both play normal .mp3/.wav/etc stuff.

I use Winamp for all my music, iTunes just for when I have to transfer to my iPod. Though I think Winamp now supports transfering music, have to look into that :p.

Hmm, I have to download WMP 11.

I don't have an iPod so iTunes is not that useful to me. I do like looking at the music store and listening to my free 30 seconds of different jazz pieces.

while i like the concept of an ipod, i hate their method of taking control. It may have changed since my 1st attempt @ installing it a while ago, but i didnt like my music files molested! I don't have an ipod either, just some useful pda that plays mp3s and video. They both have their advantages & whatnot, i just like media player. Maybe because after all these years i still define anything apple as too 'cute' to sit on my desk. Not sayin they don't kick ass...maybe its computer misogyny?

to each his own! but the ipod / itunes combo is a killer vs microsofts near non-existent mobile player market.

the only real problem i have with itunes compared to everything else is it has to convert everything to aiff (i think thats it) format. most other programs can play different file types without the conversion.

iTunes 7. I only use VLC for videoes that windows media player can't handle. iTunes for music, media player for vidoes.

I like VLC .. but being able to play whatever is thrown @it is a matter of ur codecs.
