Yeah, I read about this yesterday. Anyone who sacrifices their own life to save four others is a hero in my book.
She is quite pathetic, if that son of her's could come back, he would slap her one and tell her to shut the fuck. Our soldiers are typically proud of whatever happens to them.CameronPoe wrote:
Nice fellas. Start a tribute thread about a fallen soldier and descend to calling the mother of a fallen soldier 'pathetic'. Touching.
I'd imagine he'd show a bit of damn respect for his mother. 'Slap her one and tell her to shut the fuck'. Seriously.Miller wrote:

Agreed.
Why don't we focus this thread on honoring the fallen.

I thought we left the rancor behind.
I'll drop it, but Miller acts like he's been around the block a few times when he hasn't.ATG wrote:

Saying stupid, off topic shit to try and start an argument is what liberals do best! They know they're wrong, yet they persist on proving some "point" they have on the subject. THAT is what is pathetic, the fact they feel the need to interject their agenda on a subject that ONLY deserves a RIP or HERO, is what is rediculous!Ikarti wrote:

R I P . not only did he save the lives of his fellow SEALs, but he was saving our lives by defending our values and freedoms! Brave soul that is chillin' with god right now!
It would be nice if Petty Officer Monsoor was given a medal, but I believe he already has all the reward he wanted. He wanted his buddies to live and gave his life to ensure it. This is a true man. I also believe he didn't spend much time complaining about liberals or conservatives on a gaming website. RIP sir. I hope I can go out with half the honor you did.
my heart is out to him and his family.
He made the ultimate sacrifice defending his country.
May he be honored.

Yes, I am deeply grateful to him, as I feel that had he not died, not only would I be dead, but also my values and freedoms would not be upheld....fadedsteve wrote:

No disrespt to him of course, as he died doing a brave thing.
Ok guys, shut the fuck up about anything else. EVERYONE. Pay respect to the fallen now. I don't want to hear any more god damned bitching about ANYTHING.
This man was truly a hero and deserves nothing less than our utmost respect and admiration.
"Anyone can just go in there and kill someone, but you can't get information from a corpse."
"The more you sweat in peacetime the less you bleed in war is constantly drilled into your head."
"Train as you would fight."
You won't be forgotten.

Seriously guys, shut the fuck up with this petty bullshit. If it continues, you will be recieving temporary bans.
He gave the ultimate sacrifice to save his friends, not for political gain but so the can come home to their families.
That is a hero in my book.

If he doesn't get a Medal of Honor, do you think he will get the Navy Cross?
Yes.
I believe only one MOH has been awarded so far in Iraq.
Given the amazingly high standard for the honor, it is unlikely Mr. Monsoor will be awarded it.
I think that there has to be a fairly good stack of enemy dead in addition to the unbelievable heroics and sacrifice. And it usually has to be witnessed by an officer.

I'm pretty sure is the only guy to receive the medal of Honor in OIF2.

ATG you are right. I dont think he will receive the MOH even though if it were up to me I would give it to him. Also, it does need to be witnessed by an officer. Every SEAL team has an officer amongst the team when they are forward deployed or underway so I'm sure some brass witnedded it.ATG wrote:
