a chain is only as strong as its' weakest link. if you have a 10 GHz penitum 9 processor with 20 gigs of ramm and a 900 meg video card that takes all 4 agp slots, your game will still only run as smoothly as the server and the routers between itself and you allow it to. welcome to the internet.

and if stats meant something to you BEFORE then maybe you should reevaluate why you play games at all. there's kids that play for meaningless numbers, there's hardcore kids that play for almost as meaningless titles
coughtwlcalcough, and then there's people that play for fun.

I play for fun and care about my stats.... I only wish i could be a bit more careful with the keyboard. Im 24 but have the rage of a 7-year old sometimes. And my poor keyboard get in the way when i get killed, play like an idiot or things like that sometimes. So i guess that, often,  the stats means more.... but i accepted that i have a "problem" and thats a step in the right direction... hehe.

Do you by any chance run a Dual-Core CPU?  I've had that problem that I would get disconnected or could not even connect to the server before I figured out it had something to do with my dualcore processor. It seems that there are timing problems when the BF2-Game-Process is switched between processors eventhough that should happen transparently meaning the Application, in this case BF2, should not know that I is being switched between cpus.

The solution was to start the game then go to the Taskmanager and right-click on BF2s.exe (under processes) and Set the affinity to either of the processors so it is assigned to one cpu. Since then it worked like a charm. I rarely get disconnected etc because of network troubles and I run a regular adsl line (1500/256).

Maybe that helps.

Forgot to mention my setup: AMD 64 X2 4400+ CPU, Nvidia 7800 GTX, 2 Gigs Ram, ADSL-Line 1500/256
