I am no tech genius but I think it says that it can't run BF2142 because it can't find the DX9 drivers that are needed? Maybe I'm totally wrong.. but it also says: re-installing the application might fix it..have you tried that allready?

Once I downloaded the hitman demo and the same message came, and I know it is really common, but there is a site you can download it from. write the error in google and you will find it.

Yea, you can start downloading tomorrow, but only from Gamespot and IGN. Saturday, you can download it from anywhere.

I think it goes in your WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 folder

ok well thanx, that file made it work. too bad this piece of !@#$ing sh%t dell laptop cunt sucking fucking shit licking computer of mine can only play it at 1-4 frames per second, and the graphics suck ass that it flashes a bright yellow when i look around. PEOPLE NEVER BUY A DELL COMUPTER, THERE SUPPORT SUCKS BALLS, THERE LAPTOPS AND COMPUTERS ARE SHITTY QUALITY, AND ALL THE SUPPORT PEOPLE DONT SPEAK FUCKING PROPER ENGLISH. (

Wierd, last I heard d3dx9 was to be used so DX9 cards could run some basic features of DX10.

No idea how to help though.
