I'm mainly an isolationist and protectionist with respect to all politics, American or otherwise, so obviously I'm a 'Yes' voter. When i say 'protectionist' I don't extend said protection to unfair corporate monopolising of the resources of other countries (i.e. economic imperialism) - it only extends to the domestic realm. I'm into complete self-sufficiency and independence from others.

The world wants our money and aid, not our opinions or actions...kinda like teenagers.

The problem is aid is not conducive to self-sufficiency.

Being self sufficient does not mean you are unemployed. Trust me on this one.nlsme wrote:

The US needs reform, Martin Luther style reform. Not some pansy ass bill in congress style reform.
Foreign wars are just distractions from the evils closer to home.

so isolationism is what caused european nationalism and japanese military expansion? thats like blaming the victim for the criminal act.DBBrinson1 wrote:

i think that having bush in the white house makes for a situation where the U.S should not try to be the world police else it will just end up being team America all over again. when bushes term is over then I'd rethink it as the economic consequences would be terrible if the U.S left the world alone.
i just don't trust any president who says that god talks to them, i mean if you went to any good psychiatrist and told them that you'd be in a mental institute within 5 minutes so why is he any different to the other loonies.
most of the worlds oil by the way actually comes from Saudi Arabia as they have 25% of the worlds oil so its not really the US that dictates the oil prices as most of the U.S oil comes from Saudi Arabia

umm no true bout saudi and the fact is our oil is cheap cause WE refine it and produce a substantail amount w/o import.unlike the peeps that pay $7 a gallon.
Because whenever we do something, everyone hates us. We should just concentrate on OUR problems instead of fixing others because it just makes more problems for us.
I don't know about 'america' as a whole but your president needs to shut the fuck up.
Good point, but I think that the US not getting involved made it a bit worse for us and the world in the long run. I was merely and pointing out that isolationism doesn't work. I wonder would have happened if the US took an agressive stance on Hitler during his rise to power...GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

I think the US should get out of the Middle East and stop meddling in ME Affairs. I think that 1/2 the trouble the US has @ the moment is that Middle Eastern countries have had enough of the US trying to impose its Will on them all the time.
The rest of the world doesn't need the US, look...

No, those people who are starving to death want food. Australia isn't interested in your money, so stop acting like the sun shines out your arse.Kmarion wrote:

I voted No, but I think we should just to show everyone up. If we pulled out of all affairs and made them fight their own wars, they'd come to appreciate us even more. I don't think it's that we want to be everywhere, but we're required because all governments are pussy cowards that can't figure out how to deal with their own powers.
Pull all aid from everywhere and put that money back into our own economy and people would whine and cry that we don't care. The world is a piece of shit and we're the shining light of freedom and prosperity. You can all blow us.
