honestly, if you want to lift at home, find a partner and lift for about a year in a gym. learn the fundamentals like bench, military, squat, deadlift; things like that (note i didn't include curls). after you get all the basics, you don't need machines. i can do my entire workout with a power rack, a bar, a bench, and weights... all for a fraction of the cost of a bowflex. but why do i still go to the gym? it's the camraderie. you'll have a spot if you ask for it, and shooting the shit with guys between sets is just like hanging out minus the beer and tv. i genuinely enjoy lifting.
