Hi, im wondering someone can point me in the right direction!!

i seem to have a strange problem thats either graphics or my mouse.......
if i dont touch the mouse and just use my keys to run around its as smooth as a hot knife through butter..... left/right, forwards/backwards and together, but as soon as you touch the mouse to look and move at the same time it stutters, gets a bit choppy, like its jumping 5 pixes at a time!! its playable just not smooth
I play other first person shooters online all the time with no probs, and have a friend with lower system specs and his seems ok.........

firstly some system specs

AMD athlon 4000+ (not overclocked)
2gb of Geil system ram (2X 1gb sticks)
Radeon X1800XT with 256mb of onboard ram (not overclocked)
Audigy 2 ZS soundcard

oh, and the mouse im using is a logitech MX518 gaming mouse

everything SHOULD run fine...... all have latest drivers and have tried using older versions with the graphics card with no improvement

in game settings dont matter either, i first install the game it recommends i run everything in high! and really i should, but have notched everything down to medium and run at 1024X768 res!
have also used the openal.dll fix and this didnt help matters......

maybe is me being picky but i dont think so after reading many of you having everything set to high and having smooth fast play and seeing a friends pc (lower spec) running smoother!!

i hope someone can help otherwise its back to fear and counterstrike!!

First make sure your in game connection speed is set to cable/dsl not T1/lan.

Next disable VOIP in game settings.

If these don't help try uninstalling your logitech mouse software & drivers and just run on the standard Microsoft mouse drivers.

How do you find the copperhead m8? I've got a Razer Diamondback Plasma and I'm thinking of chipping it in for a Logitech G5 as I'm not into the shape of it.

I appreciate the the copperhead is 2000dpi, but the MX518 is 1600 dpi that should do the job!

Can you try a different mouse? Just to see if it is smoother?

Have you tried changing the mouse sensitivity?

Also, what sort of network connection do you have?  Are you using WiFi?

Sorry for so many questions ;-)

will try to find my old microsoft mouse or will borrow one!
have changed the mouse sensitivity in both windows and the game no difference,
standard cable connection plugged into the wall through the modem! (no not wifi)

like i say, i play fear and counterstrike online and up til about 4 months ago unreal 2004 with no such problems......

Your symptoms soud much like what I was expeirencing after installing 1.4 patch. I searched around and couldn't find anything on how to fix it. After thinking about it for awhile I decided to try uninstalling everything related to BF2, mods and all. I even deleted the left over EA Games folder. I then did a fresh install of the game and all mods/xpansion packs, patched it up and it works fine now. I'm not saying this will work for you, but in my case it worked. I may have just had a bad D/L when I first did the 1.3 -> 1.4 patch I don't know, but you may want to keep this as a "when all else fails" solution. Hope you get it sorted out.

If it's wireless, check the batteries. That happens to me when my batteries are dying. It get's to the point where I'm froze and I have to run downstairs and get new batteries, dying 10 times in the process lol.

I have the same problem, but only in 2142. Everything else including BF2 runs fine, and I have very low pings with 70-80 FPS. The game itself runs smooth, but when I move the crosshairs, it moves  in large increments, instead of small ones. Driving me nutz!!!!!!!!!! Anyone else have this problem?

Make sure the port it is plugged into is USB 2.0 and not 1.0.

My 2000dpi mouse sucks ass water in a 1.0 port.  Just too slow.
