Vice President of Operations for a Secure Data Center

How hard is it - With Viagra? VERY hard.  Oh, wait - scratch that.  This job is as hard as we make it.  We have a kick-ass data center (ZERO down time since March 2001) with a steel fence & armed guards.  Our Network Security Administrator (thud314) is amazing at what he does.  The I have sysadmins like OmniMalice & Mu4dD1b who can make the O/S stand up & dance.  The worst part are our clients.  I'd give it an 80.

How important is it - HAH!  Like 10.  I mean really - the important jobs are the Armed Forces, Firefighters, Police & Teachers.  Those guys are 100+ on the importance scale.

How fun is it - Most days it's a blast, but only becuase of the people I work with.  95

How long have you been at it - I've been in IT for 24 years.

How long do you intend to do it - Until I win the lottery.

Job: 4th Hand on a paper machine in a paper mill that is 200 years old. Was first a cotton mill then in 1840 it was converted to a paper mill and has been making paper products ever since. We make the paper that eventually becomes the covers for hard cover books, etc.

Difficulty: 8...This is the hardest job in the mill...at least the dirtiest with the most exposure to chemicals, formaldahyde and varied acids...acetic and oxalic. Station is betwixt and between the first bank and second bank of dryer drums so it is always hot and very noisy...use sound and eye protection religiously. I mix the chemicals, colors and materials that are used to saturate the paper giving it its' basic color...even white uses some color...a bit of blue.

Pay is great, benefits are very good and conditions are good overall.
Just started this job and may be at it for quite some time as there are so many different types of jobs available I will never get bored and the pay is great. I currently work a three day week...12 hours a day for which we are paid time and a half after 8 hours so a 42 hour check is the norm. Work week is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday...currently working a four day/12...money is fantastic but four/12's is exhausting.
The work is interesting. Takes a lot of learning to become good at your job. It is also very dangerous or can be to the fools that do not pay attention to what they are doing.

Only a couple of women so lookers are few and far between lol. Most are middle aged men as am I.
