name me one example where Frusciante owns Vai, Satriani, Dimebag, Malmsteen etc etc. He´s a good guitarist, well if you can talk about skill to play funk, but are you f*cking shitting me, he owns none of the guitarist in the poll. Kthxbyethe lost prophet wrote:

because most of those guys rely on speed alone and they even though they can play like a thousand notes per minute they all sound the same and john's sound is very versatile and he can pull off a lot of cool stuff.dont get me wrong, i think they are all good musicians, cept malmsteen he thinks he's god, but i think that john f is the master.Sl4y3r wrote:

I hate how people praise a guitarist for being in a band they like.
Until the day John Frusciante has his own CD out, he doesn't deserve to be put on this list.

Niandra LaDes & Usually Just a Tshirt - 1994
Smile From the Streets You Hold - 1997
To Record Only Water For Ten Days - 2001
Shadows Collide With People - 2003
Frusciante is a brilliant musician, but I wouldn't classify him as a "guitar hero" (as the poll "candidates"), but rather a "master of soundscapes".
Ref: "Ramparts" from "To Record Only Water For Ten Days"
The whole concept of "best guitarist of all time" is really not up for discussion as there are masters in each genre.
Jimi Hendrix - No explanation needed
Jimmy Page - see above
Slash - The man can fingertap with a cigarette and a funny hat -> Achievement!
Dimebag - Pinched harmonics / Thorougly introducing blues into the Metal scene
Hetfield - Downstroke extraordinaire
Wylde - See Dimebag/first part
Frusciante - Sound"worlds"
Fripp - Progressive God
the list goes on...
