Hey guys, I'm studying to take my A+ exam and was wondering what all was gunna be on there. There is so much shit alone just for the OS part. The hardware I got down pat...almost. I read that they updated or are going to update it and take Win9x of there (they didn't give a date when or if they have updated it). Soooo if anyone has taken the test please let me know what was on there.
Your taking an exam in what ???
A+ certification...for PC repair
Go and buy Mike Myers guide

It is an excellent book that I used back in the day to get my A+.
Overall it is a relatively easy exam. I took it about 3 years ago, and they did want to know alot about the 9x OS. When are you taking the test?

Well I have Comptia's A+ book which is thick as hell. That's why I wanted to see if anyone has taken and have what will be on the test or what was on there for them. I'm hoping to take it next month and I've been studying for 2 months.Snipedya14 wrote:

Well from what I can remember, on the hardware section there were alot of questions on interfaces, and buses. On the OS side of things, they asked alot of questions on booting, OS core files and functions.
But this was 3 years ago, you may want to find someone that has taken it in the last year or so. Of course the questions will be a bit different from each test, I am not sure if they still ask all the questions on 9x shit.
Now if you were taking the Network+ exam I could help alot more, because I just recently took that.

Yeah that's mainly what I've been studying on both. Mainly now I'm studying the boot process on the different OS's but thanx for your help!Snipedya14 wrote:

Wish I could help you out, but I took the A+ over 12 years ago. I highly suspect it has changed dramatically.
Yeah but half of the Tech's out in this world don't know how to tech a MAC...such as myself.Bernadictus wrote:

Is that test just for PC stuff or does it have server stuff (blades, fibre, drive arrays, etc)
It's for the OS and Hardware (the whole damn thing). I believe there are many different types of test from Comptia such as Networking, Server, Microsoft, etc...jsnipy wrote:

A+ is for basic PC repair and maintance. They do throw in (or they did when I took the test) questions about SCSI, and some different types of networking.capt. crunch wrote:

Comptia, as mentioned, offers other certifcations. I have the Network+ and A+, but they offer alot more.
