I need a no BS assessment on if BF2142 is worth buying? I am putting it here because i honestly don't trust the people on the BF2142 forum. There are too many differing opinions i don't trust. Most people in this forum are somewhat educated and make somewhat good decisions. So anyone who beta tested it or played the demo tell me what its about and if it is worth it.

Awhile back, I compiled a list of some of the upcoming games that've caught my attention, and I won't even be buying all of them. BF2142 isn't on there, as I've honestly not been as impressed with the gameplay videos as I was with BF2's. It honestly looks just like a fifty dollar mod for BF2, to me.

I'll probably be so busy with UT2007 and Crysis next year, that spending money on 2142 now would just be a waste. However, I still reserved my name. Come the unlikely time when all BF2 awards are under my belt, then maybe I'll advance.

Its serious talk to me because i don't want to blow 50 bucks on crap. To a college guy like me being married and all 50 bucks is money i don't want to waste. I also explained why i put it here. Did you not read that?I already dropped money on mods i don't play and dl'ed a game i like better for free (PoE2). Also there are aspects of the game i like. ex: mechs (from my old mechwarrior2 days), nice looking unlocks, interesting game play. Something intrigues me about the flying pods on the APCs. oh and im not sure on bf2142 yet... I will prob get the demo and check it out... if its buggy, which i bet it is i wont purchase it. I'll stick to ut2k4 and w8 for ut2k7.

I played the beta release, and I didn't care for it. I may pick it up eventually, but I honestly don't think I'll be buying it upon release.

Definite hell no here. EA Ass raped us with BF2 after even the first patch, Then the ungodly expansions. Why open yourself up to more masochistic pain from EA?
I'm testing the near full version at the moment. I asked for an extra 500,000 points so I could test out all the unlocks, (they gave it to me too!)
BF2142 runs better than BF2 at the moment in it's unfinished stage. Titan mode is awesome, and there are a bunch of cool new things to use.
I seem to be one of the only ones here who has played it at the stage it's at, which is 100x better than the Beta testers experianced - and it will be fine tuned.
I think, if you still like the BF2 style of gameplay, want a few more experiances, then sure, buy it. I'm not saying it's awesome, I'm just saying that I'M FUCKING SICK OF ALL THESE DOUCHEBAGS CONDEMING IT WHEN THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT!

Lot's of assessments here, but the best piece of advice I can give you is wait for the demo to come out. That will answer all your questions in a way that isn't reinterpreted by someone else.
I loved the beta, even with all it's flaws. I am about the pickiest person ever when it comes to games, but that doesn't mean you are going to like it.
So I vote null, play the demo, then tell me what you think.

Personally I agree with Ty... it doesn't sound like the God game, but people are so "The beta 5Uk3D, EA 15 B4LL5, D0N7 BUY 2142! 5CR3W EA!" that people get an unfairly bad opinion of it. Look here. The beta is not for fun. It is to test the *******ed game. Inevitably, it will be a lot worse than the release version. Also, people are all of the mentality, "EA screwed up one game, they'll screw up 2142 too!" Look here. One of NASA's top engineers during the early space program blew a countdown, spilling extremely explosive rocket fuel all over the pad (a near-disaster). Most of the management initially wanted his head. One person kept his head and realized that he would never, ever blow a countdown again, and would triple-check what he was doing before he so much as farted. I am of the firm belief that not only was BF 2 not a quarter as bad as people hype it to be, but they will not **** BF 2142 up after the BF 2 mess.
Oh, and some people are denigrating it as a mod. Look here. I play Freelancer some. Some of the mods for that game make it into Star Wars. Although the engine is the same (and engines are often recycled), and if it is a mod, it's a total-conversion mod. Just because it feels like BF 2 doesn't mean it's like BF 2, or is a copy.

will i get 2142... as of right now, my answer is no but i will think it over once the semester is done and i dont have school.
i agree with the various points that have been made. it is tempting form me to drop $50 smackers, but after what happened in Bf2, i am not going to do that. too many compromises, too many problems and too many bad people playing this game that dont want to win at all or even help you out.

i am hoping that DICE and EA are working their butts off trying to get this right for their sake. but we shall see.
