They are the one and only "supperior race" and that is exactly what they think of themselfs. Have you ever been there? I have for 35 days and I can testify that the amount of racism I have witnessed is amazing. Minor point, I know, but defeating the US militarily is not impossible. What is impossible is invading the US and getting away with it. I doubt that even the USA would use WMDs on its own soil, even if an invading force managed to take a city but I wouldn't want to bet on them not nuking a foreign country if they had been invaded.Fancy_Pollux wrote:

But that's all related to a foreign army invading the US. What about if the US invades another country and doesn't have the political support of its current allies, next time? Say, for instance, the USA invades North Korea and China decides to lend its support? I don't see that as a battle that USA could win on its own and I don't think they'd dare utilise their nuclear arsenal. So much has changed since the 1940s and everybody counts the cost of civilian casualties so much more than they used to. I just don't see the US having the political will to risk the worldwide condemnation that would follow (assuming China & NK don't retaliate in kind).
Chinese copying doesn't just extend to military gear, it extends to EVERYTHING, on EVERY level. If a company sees something it needs, it'll copy it. If their military sees a new gadget, it'll copy it...its part of their culture, and way of thinking, its been that way for thousands of years and won't change because of a little whining by a few western companies.
The chinese defense budget is no paper tiger. Think how much of a budget is wages. Now think how much wages in china are compared to the west. How many scientists can you hire for $100,000 a year in the west? How many scientists can you hire for $100,000 in China?

China has always, in its history, been a relatively peaceful people in regards to other countries. Then the British came with their copied/stolen gunpowder and invaded China. So now I think China has a right to stand up for itself militaristically against external threats.
And why should America be allowed to spy on other countries and prevent other countries from doing the same? There's all this concern about China's military buildup, yet no one questions why America is allowed to have the weapons that it does.
I think it highly unlikely that war will break between China and America, because either side knows the chances of beating the other is miniscule, and both sides know the cost to the globe of such an action. However, America is very persistent in its offense in the Asia region, breathing down China's neck from Japan, S Korea, Taiwan...and poking its nose in everyone else's business. China is therefore justified in investing to protect itself.
Wasn't that what the British did when they "learnt" of gunpowder from China and then returned to use it against them? The only difference was back then, the Chinese weren't selfish enough to copyright it to prevent others from getting it. The Chinese used it for fireworks, so they didn't think someone would turn it into a weapon.

I don't think they're planning it, they know we can put up a fight. France(maybe)/England/Canada would probably help us should we be invaded too. We're THEIR biggest ally.LT.Victim wrote:

Hahaha essentially a big torch renders those bloody billiondollar spy satelites useless!

China just likes to annoy us, like the little brother who is always trying to do better than you.
Where do you get the idea that anything involving war is fair? This article was written by people in a country that would be enemies with china if it came down to war, so of course it's gonna have a slant.Vub wrote:

I'm very sure the US has had this tech for very long times but kept it hush hush.
Wait so yeah. We have the technology... But we never though about disabling other satellites with them? Uh why do I find that BSThe American military has been so alarmed by the Chinese activity that it has begun test attacks against its own satellites to determine the severity of the threat.

Erm I thought China already had a decent enough anti-satellite system.
Take one rocket
Add loads of ball bearings and a small explosive charge
Fly roughly into the flightpath of the satellite and set off the charge.
bye bye satellite

We've had an anti-satellite and laser technology way before the Chinese got them.
Their rockets explode prematurely coz they suck..:XDR:.PureFodder wrote:

Correction. "Zhong Guo" or "中国" is literally translated as Middle Country. And being Chinese, Capt. Foley, I find the amount of racism YOU are using is quite unacceptable.haffeysucks wrote:

Oh, pur-lease. Don't retaliate, at least not until you actually KNOW all the facts. In Chinese China means Middle Kingdom, 中国, And seriously, who would actually believe that a government would kill off populations for living space??? There's a frikkin One Child Policy in place already. I must ask, have you been living under a rock? Your country has had some serious human rights issues in IRAQ! Like I said, don't argue unless you have all the facts.Capt. Foley wrote:
So because thats there name(which Im not even sure your right about) does that mean they have the right do kill off whole populations so they have room to expand? If you say yes to that I will punch you through the fucking computer. Well, exactly where on our soil do we have human rights problems dumbass? Remeber last time you decided to say China wasnt communist? Im pretty sure the whole forum attacked you in the hope you could never reproduce and bring stupidity into this world.Bubbalo wrote:
