The swastika is the reverse of the Buddhist sign for peace (the nazis thought flipping it would mean war etc). So you probably passed a BUDDHIST TEMPLE with their sign for peace on it
OK, you are stupid. First of all "hindu mosque" wtf?
second, not showing the swastika because osmeone taking the sympol and abusing it with great sucsess and impact on the world? same thing could probably be done about any nations flag. so basicly do not show the soviet flag because some guy got power and killed people!?
You should know better and if this "mosque" is forced to take down their flag because it is their symbol of luck or peace I demand that the Soviet and american flag is taken down from every single flag pole in the world!
(Oh btw, YOU FAIL!)

You are probably one of the people who reacted when someone first noticed a military building shaped like a swastika on google earth, you care so much about things you do not know shit about, learn history and things behind it.
There's a Hindu on the street doing crazy stuff..
Actually, temple is to Hindu as mosque is to Islam.jsnipy wrote:

The 45th Infantry Division of the United States Army used a yellow swastika on a red background as a unit symbol until the 1930s, when it was switched to a thunderbird.
ROFL
I bet they were called the nazi division lmaoDoctorFruitloop wrote:

Finnish army and mostly Air Force used a blue swastika on a white background during the WW2.
The first fighter plane was shipped to Finland from some, aparently important, swedish man who had his lucky symbol painted on the plane. That was the blue swastika.
The nazis were not the only ones who have used a swastika and I have no idea how you can get offended by a damn symbol!!!

Errrrr, Perestroika? Fall of the Berlin Wall?
Man, I really wonder about some people who post on here sometimes.
The Finnish Airforce used the following symbol on their planes 1918-1945. After 1945 the symbol was not used anymore because of it's negative image; also because it symbolized military loss.
Since 1945, the Air Force uses the following symbol:

No, he probably meant the flag of the USSR, given that most things associated with the USSR are called "Soviet".
I think we are through with this....
Yeah i know that, but people (that are over 12) sometimes interchange Soviet and Russian, having grown up with it.Bubbalo wrote:

Hello, I'm of Indian descent.
I myself believe in Hinduism.
Now, about this subject.
The Nazis STOLE it from us, I don't see how it's our fault .

Wrong, Hindu is to mandir as Muslim is to mosque.Hindu is to temple as Muslim is to mosque
I'm sorry, but people will have to (re)educate themselves, then. Hinduism IS one of the oldest religions of all time... Since 3000–1000 BCE, too. After almost an eternity, I don't see how we would demolish one of OUR holy scriptures, lol.Sure, it was used to ward off evil spirits, but not many people know that. The majority of the population know it as the Nazi symbol, promoting evil and Nazism.

Союз Советских Социалистических Республик (СССР) which translates to "Soyuz Sovetskikh Sotsialisticheskikh Respublik (in latin script) SSSR", when translated to English is the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, i.e. USSR.Bernadictus wrote:

So ner.
And no, I don't think anyone would take hammers to be offensive even though the USSR had a hammer on their flag. Or sickles, for that matter.
So if you know he meant Soviet flag why are you disputing it?jsnipy wrote:

Am I speaking Russian? No. Therefore, it's USSR. Same as it's Germant not Duetschland (and I don't care if the spelling is wrong, it probably needs an accent which I can't do anyway).Bernadictus wrote:

Stop with the linguistig dispute and close this thread if there is nothing left to say!
Yes, it's a swastika.
Swastikas are oriental symbols used by e.g. hindus and buddhists
Nazis also used swastikas
Other nations have used swastikas
It's a symbol of good luck
end.

how did this devolve into name calling, it's such a benign subject, there is a similarity between this and the rebel flag though, originally meant to embody individualism and state's rights was perverted into a symbol of racism long after the civil war, but my friends and I don't hesitate to use it because we see it in it's original light and a symbol of the south where we live, and we are any combination of straight/gay/male/female/black/white/hispanic/asian that you can think of. Nothing like seeing a black drag queen proudly displaying "her" rebel flag (god drag shows are hilarious, see one if you can, take your girl with you and you WILL get laid afterward). Hell, even Nathan Bedford Forrest, the founder of the KKK, disbanded the Klan once it became focused on race, as he originally intended it to be a political organization to keep yankees out of southern politics post-civil war. That's something the Klan tends to downplay, they "revere" their founding father but you won't see much mention of his original intent in their books. As best as I can recall (haven't read this stuff since high school) the Klan has been disbanded at least twice and is now nothing more than an impotent political group for ignorant racists to blame their failures on others rather than take responsibility for their poor choices and lack of talent.
BTW, I may have asked before, but when I got my Prodigy DVD, I noticed that during a live performance of "Fuck The Law" in the Red Square in Moscow, someone was waving a rather large rebel flag, is it very well known/used in Europe? Is it seen as a racist symbol, or just a punk rebellion symbol? The song, complete with the "rebel yell", is the perfect place for it's original intent.
