In the software testing world, when a product goes "Gold" it usually means that no more features will be added in. It's basically a code freeze so the QA team can look for "show stopper" bugs.

In the past 'Going Gold' means it had been sent to the manufacturer to be burned and boxed... meaning that the game would be on store shelves within a week or 2. guess that meaning has changed but at least it looks like their on track for the expected 18th october release
